Obama Must Let Bush Tax Cuts for the Wealthy Expire
Tweet Share on Facebook November 27, 2012 CommentThe wary, weary world is watching President Obama closely right now, to see where he stands on the pyramid of power. It's an "in between" time, like an intermission, in American politics, and it's up to him to show us how he will be the change we want to see.

Legalization of Cannabis Could Spur New Health Crises
Tweet Share on Facebook November 26, 2012 CommentThe debate over the legalization of marijuana certainly has had its comical moments. When Colorado earlier this month passed a referendum legalizing pot, headline writers and local TV newscasters could not resist references to "Rocky Mountain High." The state's governor, John Hickenlooper, warned residents not to break out the Cheetos and Goldfish just yet, noting that the feds take a dim view of marijuana possession, which is still against federal law. And it was indeed amusing to watch allegedly serious television reporters act as though they didn't even understand the connection between marijuana smoking and the munchies.

Cutting Taxes Doesn't Cut It for Republicans
Tweet Share on Facebook November 26, 2012 CommentIf the GOP pushes the economy over the fiscal cliff, the party will go over too. The longer Republicans push for tax breaks for bankers and billionaires, the more trouble they'll get themselves into. Republicans have enough problems morphing into the Tea Party, now the GOP is becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of the Fortune 500.

Obama's Coming Carbon Tax
Tweet Share on Facebook November 21, 2012 CommentThe closer the U.S. economy gets to the "fiscal cliff" the more panicked the spending interests appear to be. That's because they know that House Speaker John Boehner and his allies in Congress are standing firm against an increase in income tax rates—which the spenders need only for political reasons—even while being open to increasing revenues to the federal government.

The Real Victims in Israel and Palestine Are the Children
Tweet Share on Facebook November 21, 2012 CommentAs most of us get ready to show our thanks by sitting down with friends and family and a great spread of food with a turkey at the center, the children in Gaza point their fingers at the sky, pretending they can defeat the K15 missiles and drones that they see flying above. This game that has been a part of daily life, and the culture in the Middle East is no game and is nothing to be thankful for.

No, Obama Didn’t Win Because of Massive Voter Fraud
Tweet Share on Facebook November 21, 2012 CommentDo you remember Dean Chambers? He was the mastermind behind the website that tried to "unskew" presidential polls which, he and his allies argued, too heavily favored President Obama and so didn't reflect the state of the election. When the real world got the chance to weigh in and sided decisively with the "skewed" polls, Chambers got credit in some parts for acceding to reality. My how a couple of weeks can change things. Chambers has launched a new website devoted to proving (or "proving") that Obama in fact won because of voter fraud (h/t TPM). It's called barackofraudo.com (Barack O'Fraudo … because the president is Irish, or something) but it would more properly be titled unskewedreality.com.
