Mitt Romney Is Not Fit to Be Commander in Chief
Tweet Share on Facebook September 13, 2012 CommentMany of us were shocked, including a lot of Republicans, when Mitt Romney did not reference the troops nor Afghanistan in his speech at the Republican National Convention. Now aids in his camp will say Mitt wanted to focus on the economy; but that doesn't seem to sit well with most, even in GOP land. After all, the military is normally part of the Republican package.

Obama Reaps What He Has Sown in the Arab World
Tweet Share on Facebook September 12, 2012 CommentIn the 1980 presidential campaign, when Ronald Reagan raised the issue of whether people thought they were "better off" than they had been four years previously, one of the things he specifically asked them to consider was whether America was as respected throughout the world as it had been.

Mitt Romney's Response to Libya Murders Was Un-American

Teachers in Chicago School Strike Deserve Respect
Tweet Share on Facebook September 12, 2012 CommentImagine you are in mid-level management at a huge company, one which employs many at your level. You are given certain goals to accomplish, profit margins to meet, and are told that your own salary—indeed, your very continued employment—depends on the performance of your group. That seems more or less fair, until you are told that you will have no control at all over the employees whose performance will dictate your worth to the company. Some will be deeply troubled, some are so poor they don't have breakfast before coming to work. Some will have emotional or mental impairments that will make it difficult for them to do the tasks at hand. Some may not show up to work at all—but that will be considered your fault. If you were a more compelling manager, the employee would come to work, even if there was no threat to the employee of being fired.

Mitt Romney's Disgraceful Politicizing of Libya Tragedy
Tweet Share on Facebook September 12, 2012 CommentMitt Romney has not exactly distinguished himself in the foreign policy arena: his disastrous trip abroad and misplaced comments, his failure to even mention the troops and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan in his convention speech, and now his crass attempt to politicize the deaths and demonstrations overseas.

Romney's Not Reagan, Obama's Not Carter, and 2012 Isn't 1980
Tweet Share on Facebook September 12, 2012 CommentOne meme you hear over and over again from the right is that this election is a rerun of 1980, that Barack Obama is reincarnation of Jimmy Carter. There are any number of problems with this comparison, but one is often understated: Mitt Romney is no Ronald Reagan.

No, Bush Didn’t Keep Us Safe
Tweet Share on Facebook September 11, 2012 CommentOne of the only times that former President George W. Bush was mentioned during the recent GOP gathering in Tampa occurred when his brother Jeb asserted what has become the reflexive conservative defense of the 43rd president: "During incredibly challenging times," the former governor of Florida told the conventioneers, "he kept us safe." No he didn't.

Obama's Polling Bounce Proves Conventions Still Matter
Tweet Share on Facebook September 11, 2012 CommentWe are the change Barack wants to see. Obama just told us in his best speech as president. Apparently, we the American people like the sound of that, cosmic music to our souls—and polls.
