Let Jane Fonda Play Nancy Reagan
Tweet Share on Facebook March 28, 2012 Comment (28)Jane Fonda is in talks to play Nancy Reagan in a new film called The Butler.
Now this has outraged many Americans on the right; conservatives who feel such a liberal Democratic feminist should not be portraying Mrs. Reagan. And there are those who feel Ms. Fonda, due to her past as Hanoi Jane, should not be in films at all.

Bob McDonnell on Healthcare: Let Governors Lead the Way
Tweet Share on Facebook March 28, 2012 Comment (1)Should the U.S. Supreme Court determine that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 is unconstitutional, in total or in part, then Congress and the president have to go back to the drawing board. After the millions of dollars and millions of man hours spent designing and developing and beginning to implement what has come to be known as "Obamacare," it is going to be something of a challenge to come up with a replacement.

Rick Santorum's 'Bullshit' Comment Is No Big Deal
Tweet Share on Facebook March 27, 2012 Comment (5)Former Sen. Rick Santorum used a mild expletive to chastise a journalist recently. And despite all the media and political attention the episode has received, it's really not a BFD.

America Safe for the Dick Cheneys But Not the Trayvon Martins
Tweet Share on Facebook March 27, 2012 Comment (32)The heart just given to Dick Cheney...was Trayvon Martin's. One is 71, the other 17.
What if that were literally true?

Would Dick Cheney Get a Heart Under Obamacare?
Tweet Share on Facebook March 27, 2012 Comment (15)Dick Cheney got a new heart this weekend.
A longtime heart patient—he had his first of five heart attacks at age 38—he apparently came through the surgery well and is likely to make a full recovery though, doctors said, it would be some time before he was out of the woods.

Keep Obamacare's Individual Mandate in Proper Perspective
Tweet Share on Facebook March 26, 2012 Comment (4)For the record, I'm not a fan of the Affordable Care Act. I think there were plausible alternatives to the individual mandate that could have addressed free-ridership in healthcare. Like Washington Post columnist Robert Samuelson, I'm skeptical that Obamacare will significantly improve health outcomes.

Obama Has Every Right to Bring Up Race in Trayvon Martin Comments
Tweet Share on Facebook March 26, 2012 Comment (34)It was real, it was jarring, and it was just a little unsettling. President Barack Obama, who is half African-American, said that the youth shot by a self-described neighborhood watch captain looked like what his own son might look like. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, running for Obama's job, was appalled, saying:

How Mitt Romney Can Win Over Conservatives
Tweet Share on Facebook March 26, 2012 Comment (4)By now it should be obvious: Former Gov. Mitt Romney and the Republican electorate are scarcely a match made in heaven. The social conservative wing of the Republican Party has flirted with one candidate after another—Michele Bachmann, Rick Perry, Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum—in quest of a nominee who better captivates them than the former Massachusetts governor. The result has been the drawn out Republican nominating process, with all its ups and downs.

How Tim Tebow's Evangelism Will Play in New York
Tweet Share on Facebook March 24, 2012 Comment (8)My Thursday blog post about the odd cultural juxtaposition of Tim Tebow taking the New York City stage in Jets green and white drew at least one odd response, on the op-ed page of the New York Post.
