The Public Is as Uninformed as Palin on Obama's Tax Cuts
Tweet Share on Facebook October 19, 2010 Comment (12)In her Facebook response, conveniently titled “The Credibility Gap,” to President Obama’s State of the Union address in January, Sarah “The Lightbulb” Palin wrote: “He claims that he cut taxes, but I must have missed that.”
As anyone whose business it is to know such things should have known, the stimulus package consisted of roughly 35 percent in various tax cuts and rebates for families and small businesses.

Healthcare Arrogance Killing Democrats in 2010 Elections
Tweet Share on Facebook October 19, 2010 Comment (7)It is rare that you can pinpoint an exact date as to when a politician threw her career away, but Sen. Blanche Lincoln, a Democratic incumbent from Arkansas, did just that with an op-ed in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette on July 8, 2009. In it, she endorsed the so-called “public option,” a gateway to government-run healthcare. Indeed, the Democratic Party’s near universal grip on federal seats in Arkansas will be wiped out in November due to the support of Arkansas congressional Democrats for Obamacare. In a sense, Arkansas stands as a perfect microcosm of the looming disaster awaiting Democrats at the polls.

Brett Favre May Be Sleazy, Deadspin Definitely Is
Tweet Share on Facebook October 18, 2010 Comment (15)There are some legitimate issues to consider in the sexting case involving Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre. It is pretty creepy to send via cell phone, as a gossip Web site has alleged without definitive proof, pictures of one’s genitalia, as Favre is accused of doing. Most of us don’t want to see that. Then again, I also really didn’t need to see the gag-inducing photos of Favre’s banged-up ankle and hamstring, as Favre appeared to have sent to a blogger for Mississippi’s Clarion-Ledger last winter. Some things are just better left covered up.

Obama's Attitude Toward Business Offends and Confuses
Tweet Share on Facebook October 15, 2010 Comment (18)Today's must-read op-ed comes from Home Depot founder Ken Langone, who talks about the president's alternate wooing and booing of the business community. At a recent town hall meeting, Langone himself asked the president why he was villifying business leaders who are creating growth. "Instead of offering a straight answer," Langone writes to Obama in the first person, "you informed me that I was part of a 'reckless' group that had made 'bad decisions' and now required your guidance, if only I'd stop 'resisting' it."

Will Tea Party Republicans Blame Dems for No Social Security COLA?
Tweet Share on Facebook October 15, 2010 Comment (18)Today's news that seniors will not get a cost-of-living raise in their Social Security payments in 2011 will pose an interesting challenge for the Tea Party Republicans.
It is a test of sincerity vs. greed that I suspect the Right will fail.

Sharron Angle Insults Women in Debate With Harry Reid
Tweet Share on Facebook October 15, 2010 Comment (23)The record number of Republican women running for statewide offices this year was an encouraging historical development, marking an important diversification in politics. The Democratic party had long driven the growth of females in elected office, and an influx of GOP women—particularly conservative Republican women—is an important advancement.
So why did Sharron Angle have to ruin it?

Ehrlich Hammers O'Malley in Maryland Debate
Tweet Share on Facebook October 15, 2010 Comment (17)Diana is a middle school teacher in her 30s living in Maryland. She is passionate about two things: her students and her Baltimore Ravens.
After Martin O'Malley was elected governor, Diana moved back home because costs were escalating to a point where she could no longer afford to live independently. She hasn't moved out because her surviving parent is worried about job security and paying household expenses.
Diana can't wait for Election Day. She is voting for O'Malley's opponent, former Gov. Robert Ehrlich.
