Did Harper or Koch write this piece?

@ Christy of MA

What have you prsonally done in the last 5 years to reduce the carbon footprint of yourself and your family? Have you purchased a fuel efficient vehicle? Do you set your home thermostat at 62 in the winter? Have you stopped using AC in the summer? Do you car pool to work? Take mass transit? If your home has oil heat have you converted it to natural gas heat? Do you buy electricity from a 100% renewable provider?

If you do some of these things, then you are to be commended. If not, you are part of the problem and need to change your behavior to become part of the solution. It is very easy to complain. It is much more difficult to change one's behavior.

Full disclosure. I am retired from an oil company. I was in a 3 person car pool for most of my working years. I also buy electricity from a 100% renewable provider. My vehicle is not very fuel efficient but I only drive approx 5,000 miles per year.

Green Fantasy

Our economy has collapsed and the eco-ticians want to bury the body under more regulation, fines, taxes and fees - keeping the overheated printing presses pumping out more “inflationary dollars”. Great timing guys...

Beneath this obvious exercise in poor judgment and timing lays the false presumption that anthropogenic global warming even exists! And even if it does, isn’t warming better than a return to the glaciation cycle? In case you haven't noticed, more stuff grows in a “greenhouse” than on a glacier.

The Pleistocene Epoch (last major period of glaciation) ended only about 10,000 years ago. With some variation, the earth has been warming during this “interglacial period”. However, about 900 years ago there was an extended period of ‘global warming” lasting over two hundred years. It was during this period that Norsemen settled Vinland, what is today Nova Scotia, and grew grapes! Yup, you guessed it, the world was warmer then and no cars, factories or fossil fuels... uh-oh...

Sea levels have been rising for about 20,000 years - nearly 500 feet. But still aren’t nearly as high as when all the polar ice caps melted in the past when the world was once again... ah ...warmer than now. (By the way, the polar bears survived the “Medieval Warming")

What a great theory global warming is - whatever happens proves global warming ... Too much snow, “global warming” ... Too little snow, “global warming”... Too many hurricanes, too few, droughts - floods, and so on adinfinitum.

Remember AL Gore and the G.W. scientists after Hurricane Katrina? “This is just the first of the killer hurricanes. Every year we can expect more and more of these deadly storms.” Their “model” didn’t become reality - that happens - often.

Furthermore, if the world begins to show a sustained cooling trend, when scrutinized under this new science of “meteorological/ environmental myopia”, G.W. gurus can say, “Look, we’re succeeding in saving the planet! We must continue our efforts!”

Alternatively, “Oh look, it’s still warming! We must have more restrictions and regulation!” Can’t go wrong with such a position...You might say it’s a perfect scheme.

Further, I note that modern temperature records date to around 1850, near the end of the "Little Ice Age". So yes, global temps have been rising since - Thank God.

There is much to learn about the “Global Warming Hoax”... Check out the web site... Yeah, I know, every scientist who doesn’t buy into the eco- hysteria is on the payroll of “Big Oil”.

Global Warming is an ideal cudgel to control populations, economies and nations... Hunger for power is a cause that the progressives, and Barak Obama have in common.

The scientists involved have gambled their reputations, received huge grants, and invested their lives in a theory. Global Warming has entwined itself around their very character - they can’t abandon, what has become, their personal and professional identity.

Going Green Has Gone Mad

Although past recessions have been easier on college grads than high school grads, the needs of a "21st century economy" have magnified the stark difference between education level and joblessness that is why we need degree from High Speed Universities

Is this a joke? At least you were honest about including the "sponsored by" Shell logo at the top right corner of the article. What a sham.

The vast majority of climate scientists have agreed that humans are causing global warming-- even those paid by the Koch brothers. I have to hand it to you, oil and gas industry. You've really managed to dupe half of the American population and buy our politicians while the rest of the world-- already preparing their cities for a rise in sea level-- is laughing at our ignorance. I am honestly scared for the future of this country, and for the planet. From me to you, Shell, thanks for absolutely nothing.

This article is a lie. The Keystone XL project will not decrease gasoline prices, because the petroleum products that will pass through the Keystone XL pipeline will be exported, for the profitable benefit of Shell, Total, Valero and the Koch brothers. The receiving end of this pipeline is Port Arthur, Texas, which is a tax-free zone.

Nothing was learned from the Carter years, high fuel prices caused huge problems for the US economy. The cost of fuel affects everything we purchase and everything we do. Just imagine how much money is being spent on fuel and not on durable goods.

I want a clean environment as must as the next guy but we have gone way overboard on the environmental studies and the projected negative effects of oil production in this country, and it is time to drill on land and in shallow waters.

News flash: The US world dominance was a result of cheap energy and what it allowed us to achieve.
