Lowering State Gas Taxes Not as Good of an Idea as It Seems

I think all taxes across the board need to be increased. It incenses me that us taxpayers are not handing over more of our income to the government.
I believe in large, broad government and a tax-n-spend mentality; as most Americans do.
We need a VAT, we need an e-commerce sales tax, we need a mileage tax, we need higher gas taxes (nationally and state), we need every single state to have a sales/use tax (on 5 states do not which is NOT fair), we need an income tax nationally, and we need all states to have an income tax (currently 7 do not have one).
Ideally, 80% of annual income should be going towards taxes. The government knows what is best for us and needs our money. By not taxing more, it is unethical and un-American to withhold money from our beloved, all-knowing, protective government.

Wall to Wall Highways
They keep putting up walls along major highways to stop the sound of heavy traffic from flowing into the neighborhoods along the highway.
How many people does this effect, not many, just the people living within appox. 500 feet of the highway.
How do these walls help the rest of the community. They don't. Everybody pays for their cost but it only benifits a few.
On another thought, wildlife accidentily wandering between the wall have a slim chance of getting out alive.
There are pot holes, bridges, needing repair, etc., but a lot of the money goes into the highway walls.
Next thing you'll probably see on the walls, will be graffette.
Won't that look good?
