Only one way to do it....Gas at $2.50 no exports.

Gas at $3.00 no gas taxes of any kind. Pretty well puts us all on the same side...Right?

Bob Carey,

This is exactly why I am so opposed to letting Canadas Koch brothers drill a pipeline all through America to the gulf to refine the stuff, polluting our air and water, then they have already said they will ship the stuff overseas. Very very little will remain here in the states to help us here. No block these people and vote out any politician that votes yes on letting them do this@

You people are robbing us blind and there is no jobs here in phila so you should leave the gas along all you what is to buy a ship to go to some race grown up and leave the gas be

American consumers, WAKE UP. Our gasoline prices have nothing to do with Iran or any other exporters of crude oil.

Its all about the fact that our country has now grown to be one of the top 20 exporters of REFINED CRUDE PRODUCTS, i.e., gas, diesel and jet fuel.

why don't we see more of this in the media? How can we justify more drilling or more pipelines, when we seem to have more product than we need.

This is one of the Best reasons that I can find for every State to have their own refineries, handle most of their own Needs, and stop relying on the major refiners. Arizona has been trying to get one new refinery approved for years, but there is always just one more hurdle to pass. Notice the President, who has to give tacit approval to the refineries shipping all the extra fuel out of country isn't saying a word. The Congress who said Obama's Energy Plans were not working aren't saying a word, but the increase in fuel taxes covers the payroll tax extensions that they couldn't agree to find a way to pay for doesn't it?

The oil companies have been advertising how they are in touch with the average American yet they are shipping out oil and creating the very shortage they say justifies higher prices for us. That stinks!

i find it ironic, if not in-congruent, that an oil analyst with independent thought and writings would be sponsored by an oil company (Shell) as it appears in the Masthead of the page (Energy Intelligence).

Don't oil companies expect a quid pro quo for their support?

Rcarr426 of NJ 1:14PM January 02, 2012

No, the oil companies don't have the best lobby money can buy, they have the best politicians money can buy. The demand by investors (shareholders) to maximize a return on investment is one of the driving forces that compel corporations to make such decisions. It all comes down to greed--with little concern about impacts on neighbors, future generations or the environment in which we all live.
