Gun Control Update: Maryland Teen Stockpiling Guns and the Plans for Bush's Motorcade Route

It is my personal belief that gun control advocates believe that in time the pen will save them from those with swords. But in a TRUE democracy I believe that the pen should still fear and respect the sword. After all a pen won't save you from a Viking at your door who wants that pen will it?

The argument that guns are for protection is self serving

and will perpetuate the problem......

In the UK guns are banned, and yes we still have gun crime

but less in the whole country than in a large city in the USA

We do not live in more or less fear than the average American

just less of us are killed by guns.

Even accounting for the difference in populations, our police don,t carry guns as routine either.

The result is now a surge in knife crime, because everone is now carrying knives "for protection" see where this is going??

Now we have banned knives in the street and it will take a few years to enforce and get used to not having a knife......

I know some American friends, and when they visit the Uk they all comment on how nice it is to see the police without guns....

All it takes is the first brave step and life can be better for the vast majority of Americans

Yes there will still be horror stories but there will be hope too....

I am not anti guns, just making an observation........

I think the general populace missed the entire point of this news report and what was probably the main plan of this "Maryland Teen". President Bush rarely used Camp David in as much as he attends his own ranch in Texas. He's also been in office a number of years, where opportunity to carry out these mad plans were more available. More importantly, in his next few months of office he proberbly won't be making any more trips to this site. So the question comes to mind just who this "Teen" was targeting really? My best guess would be that his plans were for whom ever wins the 2008 Presidential election. Blueprint plans of Camp David are not very accesible, so where did he get these plans? Gun control...not likely going to happen in a country heaped in a historical tradition of its citizens bearing arms and using them against one another. This isn't a story about gun control, but a manman's plans or a group of madmen planning a future terrorist event.

Mr Mashek and others like him appear to be stupid - because they willfully ignore many simple well known truths brought out in this blog and elsewhere, such as: "Gun control doesn't work.", "You can't control human behavior by regulating objects.", "When guns are outlawed, only the outlaws will have guns." and on and on. And the final truth, even if the others weren't true, is: The Constitution guarantees by federal law that U.S. citizens may keep and bear arms. And yet Mr. Mashek is not really uneducated or stupid, nor are his gun banner buddies. I can only guess that their misguided emotions, sort of like "clever" sociopaths, who aren't so clever that they avoid being caught, interfere with their ability to reason properly.

The following is a reaction from someone who has a concealed carry permit for my firearm. I live in Pa.

The anti gun crowd's motto should be the following:

Gun Control: The feeling that a woman found murdered after being stabbed and strangled in an alley is morally superior to a woman who is alive and explaining to police how her attacker has a bullet wound

I have the RIGHT to protect myself and my family. I believe I will never have to use my gun but I feel much safer when traveling. Keep in mind because I passed a background check before receiving my permit I am one of the "good guys"! No amount of gun control will control crime or affect how criminals think. They don't pay attention to the law.

Here is something you might want to check out. It's a report on how the LACK of a firearm shattered a family.

Here is a report on how a firearm saved a man from a violent intruder.

Let us not forget that the last kid charged with stockpiling actualy had bb guns and airsoft plastic toy guns. He had only 1 real gun that was stored at another house by an adult.

I still have photos of all the toy gun the police displayed for CNN. If its true that he had real guns thats one thing but we should always ask questions when these reports come out because sometimes they are fake.

Mashek asks: "Were these guns for self defense?" Where in the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States does it say: "...the right of the People to keep and bear arms, but only for self defense, shall not be abridged"?

UG of MD 12:04AM August 07, 2008

John Mashek is so devoted to his cause that he has allowed reason to desert him. 1. (Some) guns are legal so this boy had them and that is because they are legal. 2. This boy also had bomb making materials despite laws which mad that illegal. Well - make up your mind. Did the laws cause the problem or not. Obviously the laws are not the problem, the boy is the problem.

People have used knives, cars, ropes, piano wire, pillows, lye, prescription drugs and a zillion other things to kill people. These are all legal possessions. People have removed spikes on RR tracks to kill a lot of people - should crow bars be made illegal?

It is so much easier to set up a straw man villain than to seriously attack the fundamental problems of motivation, ethics and morality that Mashek has obviously chosen the easy path so as to feel smugly that he is "doing something" about a a real problem - even if what he is doing really is useless (at least I suppose it makes him feel superior and smug in the face of all of us "sinners".

If the politician's spent more time representing instead of using their personal opinions to make decisions, this country would not be in the trouble it is today. Remember guns do not kill, people kill. Criminals don't need to wait for approval from the State Police to purchase a gun. Solid citizens do. Education should be required prior to purchasing any weapon. If good citizens were armed fewer people whould be killed/injured. No one is going to attack knowing that person is also armed. This question should be placed on a ballet like so many others are. The gun question has been talked about for years and the question has never been answered. It is the right of every one to decide for them selves if they want to have a weapon. There are some places in this country that allow the carrying of a weapon. Crime in these areas will probably be much lower than areas where it is a CRIME to carry.
