I am a former marine/soldier stationed in iraq, and dobson's rhetoric is exactly the same as the imams and clerics here, just substitute the name of God. I have listened to him for years, and the only conclusion i have come to regarding his commentary is that he is a narcissistic self-appointed expert on religion, enjoying the influence that causes the actions of the Eric Rudolph's and Scott Roeder's, just too cowardly to act on his own. He persistently has guests on his show that will patronize his ego, not to mention his hired sycophant John Fuller. I fight for the right for every American to have their say, but it is folks like Dobson that make me wonder about the wisdom of allowing for this inciting language without accountability for the results to go on.

Hi. Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there.

I am from Afghanistan and now study English, tell me right I wrote the following sentence: "This affiant to commit suicide, is prohibited absolutely channels that."

Best regards ;-), Latham.

I would just ask all you evangelicals ready to follow the pied pipers of the new social evangelical religion, ie., joel hunter, etc., to be careful what "absolutes" you throw overboard.

Yes, Falwell, Dobson, Robertson, etc., manifest a simplistic approach to theology; they should never have abandoned the patristic fathers which are the backbone of the eastern and western catholic churches, but...

the "absolutes" subsisting in the atrocity of abortion and the antithetical self gratifying lifestyle of homosexuality, are inarguable, they are "truth."

You can declare as a naive rebellious adolescent might, that your taking the train off the tracks to freedom and consensus but if you are really a train, you will go nowhere unless you're on that track...it's the nature of a train.

The "right" is right to make "Being", Life, the number one issue; I AM...existence, the dignity of "personhood" IS our faith!

>...Dr. Dobson is just adhering to God's words and people think he is starting his own Religion, give me a break! I'm so thankful for people who stand up for what is right and moral. Thank You Dr. Dobson.<

No, he is NOT "adhering to God's words". dobson is virulently anti-gay, and if he TRULY wants to "focus on the family", let him work to eradicate divorce and leave healthy GLBT families alone. We're not bothering him, but he sure whines enough about us. He preaches hate.

As is well-known, dobson is virulently anti-gay, and insists on using "dr" paul cameron as his "expert". cameron has been tossed out of any reputable medical association for his lies about the lifespan and lifestyles of GLBT's, isn't it time "dr" dobson was tossed out on his ear from the apa?

JAMES DOBSON FOR PRESIDENT!

GOD BLESS YOU AND THE USA

Debbie of 1:50PM July 05, 2008

The Christian God is author and source of evil. The entire Judaist/Christian religious system is based on blood sacrifices. Either killing lams or killing humans, its the same old blood sacrifice that gets forgiveness. God is not loving, he is evil, he does not forgive anything, there is always blood on his hands. The Christian God is the world's biggest hypocrite. What justice is there in scapegoating, such as killing someone else for your sins? The very foundation of justice is having the perpetrator pay for his crimes, Christianity is the most unjust, evil perversion of law and justice there is.

All I can see is the cult of a supremely selfish, bigoted and evil deity and a crowd of mindless cowards that have the ethics of Ghenghis Khan. GOD, PLEASE SAVE US FROM YOUR FOLLOWERS!

Dobson aligned himself with the extremists in the GOP and has nothing of value to say about Christianity. IF Dobson were really a Christian, he would have endorsed Mike Huckabee!

Fundamentalist Christianity is just as much of a threat to America's stability as fundamentalist thought and action of any other religion.

Steve of KY 4:19PM June 27, 2008

Dobson has plenty of listeners otherwise the MSM could have cared less about what Dobson thought... they are scared that he will have too much sway in the general election because Obama needs voters who fit in the demographic that listen to Dobson, and therefore certain members of the MSM want to shame people with assosiating with him. This is just another political front that has an affect on how elections turn out.

As far as Dobson not preaching the Bible.

First, Dobson is not a preacher but a psychologist who happens to be a believer.

Second, the fact that you say he doesn't 'preach' the Word shows that you don't listen to his show and have probably been listening to someone else's opinion about him that you probably trust. Many church leaders are pure reactionaries to any Christian that is in the public spotlight because people are so easily offended they don't want them leaving their churches. People who do listen to his show know how how he represents the Bible and that is precisely why he is considered to be a mainstream evangelical and not just some televangelist nut. The frauds on tv would never make it in the radio business.

The idea of Dobson exploiting for financial gain is a joke.

The Sponge Bob issue is larger than just Sponge Bob. How so you might ask?

Does television have anything to do with what our country thinks about? Dear Mia, let me ask you if twenty years ago gay marriage would have ever been possible? It is possible today. Would the gay lifestyle even be shown on television twenty years ago in a positive light? The answer is no. But over the last twenty years there have more and more exposure to the American public to the gay lifestyle. The reason: the gay lifetyle isn't just a lifestyle but a political movement that involves money and power and yes: tv time. Maybe Sponge Bob is gay or not. But Dobson knows that if they can change kids minds then they can change the way the whole next generation thinks. In California, I believe they already teach elementry kids about sex ed/gay lifestyle... The only thing stopping this from going nation wide is the state of traditonal families being able to model traditional values at home. When the traditional home breaks down, well, he is not alone to sincerely be afraid that this society will not be much further behind because after something as basic as the family has been destroyed, well, you will be able to teach anybody anything. Agree or disagree, this is a real political situation in the U.S.

You may disagree with people who share Dobson's values, and those values may be fading in this society, but he believes in tradtional family values and the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman, and he has dedicated his life to this cause. Crazy, huh?
