Do Free Reverse Cell Phone Directories Exist?

Many people ask this question when searching for a free reverse cell phone directory online. Sadly, the answer is an emphatic "no". The only way to insure you are receiving accurate and complete information is to pay a light fee.

You may come across some pseudo-directories which claim to be free reverse cell phone lookups, but the most you'll get out of those is the number's carrier or the location at which it was issued, no information about the owner of the number.

Why is There no Free Directory?

So, the big question is, why isn't there such a thing as a free reverse cell phone directory, especially once people realize one does not exist yet? There are a number of free reverse lookup websites for land line phone numbers, after all. So why is it different for cell phones?

Well, cell phone numbers and land line numbers are classified differently as information. For decades, your home telephone number has been considered to be public domain information. You'll notice nobody needs to ask your permission to list your home phone number in a phone book. In fact, you often have to pay money simply to keep your number from being listed!

Because cell phone carriers will charge for every call you receive, cell phone numbers enjoy more privacy. Typically, this is why it's harder to track down cell phone numbers.

Wireless 411 Directory

There was some talk some years back of building a public cell phone directory. The directory would be made available to the public and the different cell phone service providers would all contribute their numbers to it. However the idea for this directory was abandoned, for the time being at least, due to concerns over privacy invasion and unwanted telemarketing calls.

However this doesn't mean such a directory is impossible. It can be done, and it already has been done! But because building a reverse cell phone directory entails manually entering data from millions of different records it can be a massive undertaking. There's just no way such a massive, complex effort can be offered for free. However, even many directories which carry such a fee do not possess a complete database of information.

Out of all of these reverse cell phone lookup directories Trace Cell Number is the most upstanding and accurate. A few Google searches for Trace Cell Number is all you'll need to see it's the top-rated reverse cell phone directory you can find.

Hi all, I'm Allison and one of two primary caregivers for my 73-year-old mother, who was diagnosed two days ago with a recurrence of her ovarian cancer. She was initially diagnosed in October 2007, had surgery followed by chemotherapy from November 2007 - May 2008 and was declared cancer free in July 2008. Now it's back.

I'll be hanging out mostly at blogs not forums..I did joined here so will share my thoughts soon.
