Your very last sentence was, indeed, correct: "Yeah, the center right sure knows what to do."

“ A quick comparison of the Republican-controlled House and Democrat-controlled Senate on jobs":

http://hotair.com/archives/2011/09/08/a-quick-comparison-of-the-house-and-senate-on-jobs/

1) Since January this year, the house has passed 12 bills to enhance the US economy with jobs. All but one of these bills remain "STUCK IN THE SENATE".

2) The House has also passed 6 Domestic Energy production bills to enhance, again, the jobs picture while trying to reduce foreign oil dependence, WHILE THE SENATE BLOCKS AND PASSES NOTHING.

3) The House has passed a federal budget, WHILE THE SENATE BLOCKS AND PASSES NOTHING!

We need to admit that our Social Security system is designed to shift income from the middle class to the poor. Increased wages bring higher tax rates, and smaller (by comparison) increases in benefits. The limit on the Social Security taxable wages of $106800 per year means that the Social Security tax on really high wages is limited. Also, this tax (and the Medicare tax) apply only to "earned income", not to capital gains, dividends, royalties, and certain other income. Thus we tax those likely to spend any extra money (the middle income people) and limit the tax on those less likely to spend the money.

Oh, and what are the right's plans? cut off everyone's safety nets at the time that they are needed most? REFUSE to let the rich pay a little more for the extreme wealth they are reaping? Cut corporate taxes even more, despite the fact that almost every industry has 5 loopholes, and the fact that GE paid less in taxes than I did this year? Cut regulations so that banks can get overleveraged again, restarting the financial crisis cycle?

Yeah, the center right sure knows what to do.
