Tell me, where would the nation be right now if we had listened to fiscally conservative Republicans and been more frugal, fiscally responsible, curbed our appetite for pork, and determined that the role of government was not to provide cradle to grave entitlements? I tell you where we'd be. We'd be the richest nation in the world, our people would be fiercely independent, and society would have fewer loafers and misfits.
