Obama’s Rolling Stone Interview Proves He's Out of Touch

There has never been 100% satisfaction with any President—never! Some citizens criticized George Washington as wanting to become a King. Check out some history. How about Congress as “out of touch?” Many of them are wealthy. Many of them deliberately stay out of touch. Don’t they get free or darn close to free travel? Don’t they get government run health care? Don’t they get to raise their pay anytime they want to, which comes from tax dollars? Don’t they get to pick and choose what legislation to address? Do you listen to some of the crazy nonsense that comes from some members of Congress? Like, “we need to address these Washington insiders,” (they are all Washington insiders), or how about, “we don’t need light-rail,” (really?), “we don’t need to regulate off-shore drilling,” (just wail when one explodes and leeks billions of gallons of crude into our fishing grounds), “we don’t need HIV/aids research,” (really?), (are we to believe that such a deadly transmissible disease does not need to be researched?), or how about this, “we don’t need to study volcanoes, tsunamis, hurricanes, flood zones, or tornadoes” (really?), after all, they only potentially kill thousands. Congress is a divided mess, and obstructionism in Congress is at an all time high because of personal or political distaste for President Obama. Any time a President wants to address social issues, financial issues, or climate issues—the crazy’s come out in force. This has hurt Americans, all Americans. Industry dislikes addressing those types of issues. Congressional members of both parties make extra money from lobbyists—we all know it. Lobbyists usually come from industries that want more profit. They do not want legislation that restricts them in any way. It’s not a mystery that certain pieces of legislation come to a vote and others languish due to “holds” or filibusters, or that legislation can morph into something less desirable over night. Any member of Congress can hold back any bill, and the Congressperson’s name can remain secret. Congress plays with American lives, liberties, rights, and well-being—it is the nature of the beast, and America is divided regardless of who sits in the White House. This is especially true when one party sees a political gain. They stop or block key pieces of legislation to muck things up, they scream or lie about legislation for political points. It is time for media folk to also get “in touch.” Presidents do not write legislation! They can ask for legislation to address an issue, but Congress writes the bills. Pay attention to the fact that the American government has three branches to it, and together these three branches do their thing—make a law, make a policy, make a judicial decision—even if the citizens (sometimes the majority of them) do not like it. No person is one interview—remember the beloved Palin vs. Katie Couric? Defending someone or his or her record is always in the eye of the beholder.
