Where Is the Antiwar Left on Afghanistan?

By the way, I just wrote the article titled, I said it since the election. I am a Korean vet. and feel my anger against the war is a right I earned. How long did Obama spend in the service, if he feels that Afghanistan is the right war, is he willing to send his daughters when they are old enough. Were the Clinton's willing to send their daughter. I have sent and received e-mails from Cindy Sheehan, reminded her what she said, "my son died for nothing," I told her yes and hundreds more will die for nothing. All those that are so pro-war, let them send their sons and daughters. Billions are being spent and made on these wars, how many generals have died, only more are being made. Their are already hundreds active and retired. We don't need anymore at the expense of thousands of foot soldiers. Since WW2 all these wars have just been for economics, that's what started WW2. As some other letter writer said that is very good, WW2 may actually be the last necessary war. And it affected almost every American family with a friend or relative, this one is someone else's son, daughter, father, husband, so it doesn't hurt them. Come on liberals, dms. leftwing advocates, start the protests, Bush is out but men and women are still dying. Swallow the pride and admit this pres. is wrong, wrong, wrong, like you said of Bush. We were wrong, we should have been out of Iraq soon after Saddam Hussein was caught.

Exactly what the article said, "the protests were anti-Bush and anti-GOP. I proved this since the election with, "where is John Kerry," that protested the Viet Nam war while men & women were dying. Where is he now? Not only was that the act of a traitor coming from an officer that just fought in the Viet Nam war but it was done only because of the hatred and contempt for pres. Nixon. Kerry did not protest until Nixon was in office. He was all gung-ho while Johnson was pres. Even before the Iraq war started I said to then Fl. senator Katherine Harris, that the opposition to our going into Iraq was just anti-Bush not anti-war. Even though I am a rep. I oppose the war's in Iraq & Afghanistan, and do not believe the baloney as some rep. have said, "if we don't fight them there we will have to fight them here." They don't want us there and will not come here. All this for the argument of fighting terrorism is more baloney. Thousands died in Korea and Viet Nam, there was no mass of Korean or Viet Nam soliders coming here. Also where is the hypocrite Obama that pledged during the campaign to end the war in Iraq and bring the boys home immediatly?

All he has done is escalated the war in Afghanistan with more killings, and in a way has brought hundreds and hundreds home, in body bags. How many more what for? End the insanity, the madness and admit finally all this was mistake and bring the boys home. The left, the dms., the liberals are still chanting, "Bush got us in." Yes, but the guy was elected to get us out, so Mr. Pres., get us out and honor you pledge. I want the anti-Bush haters to protest this pres.

We've been beaten into submission. I protested the Iraq invasion and myriad Bush antics. I voted for Obama, but he seems to be the same war-mongering maniac as the Bushies. It seems we can't learn from, history, other country's mistakes, or even our own. It' sad.

This is funny, I had been wondering where the Tea Party people were when President Bush and VP Cheney invaded Iraq and started these COSTLY wars.

Although Bush and Cheney were all about cutting taxes while starting the wars...who did the Tea Partiers think would be paying for the wars?

They were oddly FOR the wars, but AGAINST paying for them.

I continue to oppose war, even though President Barack Obama is in office. I opposed the Viet Nam war, the Gulf War (intended to give a second term to the 1st President Bush), AND the current wars which helped to give GWB a 2nd term.

WWII may actually BE the last necessary war.

I could say the same for many republicans protesting Obama's war policies that were nearly the same as bush

Thank you Mary Cary! Thank you for pointing this out!

I was against Bushes wars from the start and, although I campaigned for Obama, I quickly began to realize he was just another phony after all. I am severely disillusioned with, not only Obama, but with the "anti-war left". I argue the same damn thing, where are they???

Why is it okay when Obama does it?? Why does there suddenly seem to be these ever-growing excuses for Obama to justify his pro-war, pro-authoritarian statism, and pro-Bush policies?

For the mean-time, Ill just sit and get a good laugh at the elaborate, yet insufficient, excuses the "Bush-time Anti-war left" has, and continues to come up with, for Obama.

Such a sad shame, but, you gotta love it.

and promotes the 9/11 lies, about which he's well aware -- Which makes him worse than Bush, who knew nearly nothing.

thanks for writing this.. We "liberals" are proving to be as willing to get in line as the worst Bush/Cheney fans.

http://www.WeAre Change.org is a group continually daring to protest the ongoing crimes of this Empire. Dare to join us.

I think one key difference is that Obama didn't make this war. He inherited it. And he clearly indicated he doesn't want to go forward with it and set a deadline date. The consensus among Americans is that he's trying to fix as much of the situation that Bush got the US into while dealing with the consequences of any abrupt withdrawal of American troops.
