The oil leak can be TOTALLY controlled in half a week. Replacing the flange atop the BOP with a riser is absolutely possible,even in that blast. A pre-assembled guide---four 40 ft pcs drill pipe--- with a five ft diameter band connecting the top ends, and solidly mounted on the BOP flange below,will steer the new riser perfectly, over the drill pipe stub and down, with 2 tapered pins on the new flange, precisely aligning it for bolting. A manifold with 4 lines to the surface completes it,redundantly accomplishing more than the cap, only with positively NO leaking at all, and no sea water to "freeze". After working the giant shear, these tasks,including clamping before unbolting, and trimming projections on the flange,etc. are comparatively simple for the robot operators. Please hurry.

It is very sad to see that politics has devoured our sense of purpose and national well being.
Washington only cares about who wins in the daily blogs and on the talk show du jour.
Its time people became American, and not partisan.
Take back our government; starting with our communities.
Let's start dealing with problems, realistically....and get to work.

this is crazy how Obama has yet to do anything. Ok yeah its Bo's fault but if they arent doing anything, then Obama should be sending troops there to fix this spill. We cnat rely on Bp to do it bc we saw how far that got us already. Its been 36 days and nothing has been done to stop this anad the Government needs to step up and do something about it!!! If we sit back and do nothing then our wildlife and peoples lives will be forever changes due to reduction in fisheries and wildlife

There are 000s of active wells in the Gulf and around the USA sea coasts operational right now. Drill Baby drill IS the correct anthem. Now, Sarah Palin is also so accurate, when she says "we also need to drill baby drill in Alaska on good old terra firma", where if a leak happens, "we can scoop it up".
So yes, DRILL BABY DRILL and accidents happen. Besides, if you do not like consuming gasoline ...........stop buying it. Walk to work. That is, IF you have a job. Obama has destroyed most chances of any jobs too, unless they are counting the census.
Because of Obama .........the USA unemployment rate will remain at around 8.5% to 9.5 % for YEARS and YEARS. All of his new initiatives are impediments to hiring new staffers. Too costly to hire new folks.
As the new POTUS, he promised that "unemplyment would not exceeed 8%" if he got STIM passed and now look at it. He has failed America and he lied.

Obama is a talker or shall I say, reader. Sometimes he reads the tele prompter quite well. This is his one skill. He loves to be on TV hamming it up with candidates ( Babs Boxer is next to lose an election ) and to talk, talk, talk and scold.
Leadership? No, that is not what he does. He did not lead on HC or Stim or TARP or any initiatives and that is why most are massive failures. Look at the most recent unemployment numbers, and in spite of obama hiring ACORN workers to work the census forms,etc.
In November, he will see about 50 -60 of his fellow liberal congress people lose and theyw ill be repalced by conservatives and then, we will lead anew.

1800 Americans died from Hurricane Katrina. Hurricanes happen every year, with plenty of warning. The government should be prepared for hurricane response.
This oil disaster was caused by BP/Transocean/Halliburton incompetence and greed. The government does not have the equipment and manpower to stop a gusher 5000 feet deep. Big Oil lied and claimed a disaster like this was virtually impossible. Republicans want small government, no taxes, and no oversight. But when corporations or Wall Street screws up, government is supposed to instantly cover their butts.
Republicans are absolute scum!
