Just goes to show you that not just us liberals are eco-friendly and organic-lovers. Hooray for all eco-geeks! Republican and Democrats alike! :D

"For now, the GOP in power in DC have set their sails in the direction set by the likes of Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Michele Bachmann."

College educated voters are driven away by these neo-con artists. It's hard to convince educated voters that ALL scientists are part of a vast liberal conspiracy to bring down America, that the universe is only 6000 years old, that Biology, Geology, and Astronomy are all wrong about everything, that Fascists and Nazis are leftists, that Global warming is just a liberal conspiracy, that Obama is a muslim trying to destroy America. Educated people are skeptical when a talk show hosts tells you the global economy is on the brink of collapse and you should buy overpriced gold from his sponser. Simplistic slogans and lies like, "all liberals are lazy and don't want to work", or "send them all back to Africa" don't work on smarty pants people, so your left with the ignorant and uneducated that can be easily fooled and motivated by religion. No smart, educated person can watch Fox news and come away saying, "wow, I want to be part of that bunch of wingnuts."

...which the teabaggers and Fox News refer to as RINOs (Republican in name only). The teabaggers that run the Republican party hate "Whole Food Republicans" just as much as they hate Barney Franks. Good luck trying to unite these two groups by 2012. It's like a marriage between George Will and Sarah Palin. Not gonna happen. The republican party is contolled by people who think their only problem is that, "we're not conservative enough". All the democrats have to do is rile up the religious right over gay marriage or whatever and then the teabaggers will scare everyone into voting for the Democrats again.

Thoughtful reaction to that op-ed piece in the WSJ about how the GOP should reach out to college grads.

I just posted a blog on the same subject.

I'd be interested in & appreciate any reaction you might have to it.

It can be found at The Dark Horse Dispatch: darkhorsedispatch.com

It's title is: Republicans & the Smarty-Pants Vote: Part One

All the best,

Dan

Or, if you prefer, moderate Democrats from the 50's thru mid 70's - Not nearly as much fun as watching Dean, Carville and Pelosi rant and screech.

By the way, didn't McCain just try that "New Republican" schtick? How's it workin' for him?
