American Mainstream Is Looking More Like Republican Mainstream

All these sub-groups some people have. Nonsense.

I am a Conservative. There are Republicans and Democrats who vote simular as I. All do not have exact beliefs I do. Fine...

Have found few Liberal views I like. I add obama's agenda to this list.

The leaders of the Republican party which supported Dede Scozzafaua can no longer differentiate themselves from the Democratic party. So, what's the point in voting for Republican candidates if they vote like Democrats. If Republicans want the support of Conservatives and Independents in the next election cycle they need to clearly separate themselves from the liberal agenda of the Democratic party. The overriding issues will be JOBS and the out of control spending of the federal government...not the social issues like abortion or gay marriage. The Republican leader's "Big Tent" concept is a Democratic plan to get Republicans to vote like Democrats and to label Conservatives as extremists forcing them out of the Republican party...so far it's working.

Wake up oldsters / g50 of IL wrote: If you are simultaneously citing: 1. the deficit / debt / unfunded USFG liabilities (100+ trillion) and 2. the health care bill costing a lot... Then you DO NOT have the slightest idea what this health care reform effort is about.

To which I reply: You have much to learn "young one". You are spewing UBER left rhetoric. Yes, we all know that the bulge in the population defined as the baby boomers threaten to bankrupt the system. However, it was the UBER left that created that system by putting those programs in place to begin with; programs that they then proceeded to RUN INTO THE GROUND!!! Keep drinking that cool-aide youngster!

You claim, with a distinct air of self serving, smug superiority I might add, if I don't support the Obama healthcare fix that, ipso facto, therefore I must support the status quo. Not only is that not true, I submit to you that it is OBAMA that supports the status quo. Or, did I miss the part in the proposed healthcare legislation he supports that addresses tort reform? I also don't recall seeing any discussion that transforms the "pay per transaction" healthcare system that currently exists to an outcome based approach! Please correct me if I missed those things. I did take note of the fact that the proposed legislation would allow ONLY The Federal Government to sell THEIR insurance across state lines. However, again, I must have missed the part in the legislation where the private insurance carriers are given the same advantage. Did I miss that? I know my eyes are so much older than yours. Perhaps you would be kind enough to point it out to an old man.

I was particularly disappointed when you wrote: "is there any part of America your generation won't ruin?"

I must say you are one sad piece of work to resort to inciting generational warfare. I won't even dignify the other hate filled vomit you spewed just above that closing remark with a response. I think most can see you for what you are.

I do take note of the fact that, as baby boomers, there are one whole HELLUVA LOT more of US then there are of you! This gives me great comfort as I look forward to the next election cycle.

WAY TO GO NEW JERSEY and VIRGINIA!!!

Thanks to Cary for the reality check. Alhough I am moved by Frank Rich's frantic concern for the future of the Republican party, for the sake of his health I urge him to adjust his medication and remain calm.

Third-party candidates can add real choice for voters when they hold to conservative traditional constitutional values and become a choice not merely an echo. It should not take very long in these contests to determine the desires of most voters.

Now, in NY's 23rd contest, we know beyond a shadow of doubt, Scozzafava was not a conservative Republican, just a liberal echo. Pro abortion, pro gay marriage, pro taxation, pro union open voting, pro increase in taxes and now one can add to her portfolio pro democrat Owens endorsement.

I remain amazed that several Republicans like Newt Gingrich supported Scozzafava until the very end. Rush Limbaugh was totally correct on his analysis of Scozzafava and her RINO label. He is also correct when he repeats on numerous occasions that for the Republicans to win they must abandon this moderate and bipartisan nonsense. We face a democrat, liberal, take no prisoners strategy. It's time we proclaim our conservatism boldly and openly without apology or equivocation. Let us proudly defend,

A strong national defense,

An end to debt expansion and increased taxes.

A strong pro life and defense of traditional marriage act,

Continued proclamation of American freedom and individualism,

An effort to enforce the criminal laws already enacted,

An all out effort to promote the private sector and removal of unnecessary government regulations,

Greater promotion of individual freedom and small business entrepreneurship,

Promotion of a job creation and restoration program which minimizes corporate taxes and government controls,

Elimination of deceptive tax increases disguised as cap and trade legislation,

Elimination of unnecessary health reform proposals which can add trillions to the national debt long term,

The elimination of unconstitutional czars,

Elimination of illegal immigration and restoration of our borders,

Increased support for our military establishment and forces, and victory in military conflicts,

Renewed pride and support for the U.S. at home and abroad,

We need a renewal of conservative, constitutional principles of freedom and the pursuit of liberty and happiness. If we Republicans are to govern in the future it will only be with the consent of the American people, realizing we will make a life long commitment to conservatism. The Washington lobbyists must be replaced with the voices of average voters who want their country back. There can be no substitute for victory in 2010 and 2012.

Mary Kate Cary is obviously a far right conservative crazy like Ann Coulter or Michele Malkin. Like them, she should also not be taken seriously. The bottom line is that the republicans are in trouble, and should Hoffman win in New York and the republican party uses him as an example to become a radical fringe party, they will never win anything significant again. Despite the fantasy dreams of conservatives, this is also not a "referendum" on president Obama or the democrats. It is two governor races, and some special elections from rural areas. By the way, the district in New York has always been conservative and republican, so a conservative party victory by Hoffman would mean little in a place like that, especially since the conservative party is roughly the same as the republican party. Sorry to break it to you, conservatives, but there is no referendum on Obama tonight, even if republicans/conservatives win, it means little in the way of the president. I find the conservative crazies quite humorous in their excitement over events like this. They kind of remind me of those Cubs fans that keep saying "This will be the year we make it to the World Series", and it never happens for them. Instead of the Billygoat curse, though, it is the curse of Palin, Bachmann, Armey, Pawlenty, Thompson, essentially, the curse of the conservative crazies that will ensure that it will never be the year for the republicans.

I'm a fiscal conservative and social moderate who likes what I've read of Scozzafava's positions on the issues (what little I've read). The problem is that the 23rd is a VERY conservative district and there was no primary...she was picked by "bosses" in a smoke filled room. This was a mistake. And my initial feelings of sympathy for here are absolute gone now; once she endorsed the frigging Democrat. Anyone who would do that has NO business running as a republican. So...I was initially disappointed, but am now delighted this turncoat (clearly either a petulant sore loser, or a closet Leftist) has been sent packing.

This was anything but a Republican move. The Republicans went liberal. It was the American people who said they would have none of it and went for the Conservative. The Republicans' only choice was to listen to the people. They need to hear the message though. It is not a matter of slowing down the left. it is a matter of changing directions. Change directions or you will no longer have the American people.

Dave of MO 5:35PM November 03, 2009

Keep trying to paint it any way you want, the American people aren't dolts that will buy whatever crap you try to force down our throats. Even though you have the weight of the media and Hollywood behind you, you Dems are so out of touch with the rest of us. You will see in 2010 when Conservatives dominate dems in the elections. Obama is a definite 1-termer. Republicans made a mistake nominating a moderate, when they should have nominated a strong conservative. The RNC is learning this lesson the hard way, but victory is on the horizon. Tonight's elections (NY 23, VA and NJ) is just a taste of what's to come.
