The democrats provide all of the moderation that is needed. The loyal opposition should do just that--oppose.

which is why the Republican Senators on the Judiciary Committee won't follow it. That, and if they do, Limbaugh and the hardcore right pundits will flay them alive! Much easier to cater to the base than to try to appear reasonable to the other 72% of the populace.

Obama's criteria is obvious;
OBAMA'S COURT CRITERIA (and its meaning)
1. Not white (well maybe half - I hear he has insight in dealing with such a person) . Must be a member of some oppressed, victomhood minority.
2. Secular Progressive Relativist (no God, no absolutes, no rule of law - law and morals are merely perceptions of human whimsy - constantly evolving...without foundation).
3. Pro Abortion ( The science is clear - the unborn are not human - it's not clear what they are, but it's above the boss's "pay-grade" and that settles it).
4. Belief that the Constitution is simply a quaint document made up by old white guys wearing wigs and funny shoes (Time for a snappy update through judicial activism - not a mandated Constitutional Amendment).
5. Belief that Human rights are doled out by the Government based on cultural, economic and political priorities (In other words, justice/rights allotted by opinion polls and rationed by the tyranny of the majority - Not endowed by our Creator - for all people).
6. A staunch supporter of the 1 st Amendment - Protect the right of Hollywood liberals (with San Francisco values) to spew filth into our living rooms and public places, and corrupt our young people - while banishing God from public view and demanding He be kept in the same closet where we once kept pornography before it came to the family hour and our streets.
7. Embrace all parts of the Constitution that promote the Green - Socialist agenda (distort, rend, twist, ignore and marginalize those that don't).
8. Must be eco-sensitive and believe in the "science" of Global Warming (must be a neo-Pantheist. Nature good, man and his works, evil).
9. A reader of only the "informational phrase" part of the Second Amendment ( That part about the, "Right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." Well, that was just a typo).
10. Must understand the importance of Racial Equality (promote and endorse reverse discrimination as well as racial and gender quotas without regard for actual and necessary qualifications).
Now where will we find such a learned and evolved person? (Oh, I dunno.... you might try just about any university, courthouse or eco-socialist political group in the country. Say, maybe the head of ACORN or Planned Parenthood is available).

Its a win win for the dems.Let the republicans stomp ther feet and holler all they want. It will only drive more poeple away from there party. I say they should go all out and instead of the senate asking the question just let the big guy Rush Limbough do it for them. I mean hes there boss anyway.

The GOP is currently dealing with one of life's tougher choices: Do I want to stick with my principles or do I want to be popular? They are also still trying to resolve the ongoing conflict between the Goldwater and Rockefeller wings of the party. Stay tuned, it may get ugly.
But on the subject of Obama picking a liberal to replace a liberal, yes, but he's replaceing an older retiring liberal with a younger one that we are all going to have to deal with for the next 30 years or so.
