Rush Limbaugh Says "Democrat" Colin Powell Should Leave Republican Ranks

Today's Politico reports that Rush Limbaugh is suggesting that Colin Powell should leave the Republican Party. Under the headline, "Rush to Powell: Go Be a Democrat," here's the story:

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh said Wednesday that if former Secretary of State Colin Powell is going to keep criticizing the GOP, he may as well leave the party and become a Democrat—adding that Powell's endorsement of Barack Obama was "purely and solely based on race."

"He's just mad at me because I'm the one person in the country that had the guts to explain his endorsement of Obama," Limbaugh said on his radio show. "There can be no other explanation for it."

"What Colin Powell needs to do is close the loop and become a Democrat, instead of claiming to be a Republican interested in reforming the Republican Party. He's not. He's a full-fledged Democrat," Limbaugh said.

"He's out there saying I am killing the Republican Party while he endorsed and voted for Obama," Limbaugh added.

Apparently Limbaugh was responding to a comment Powell made over the weekend on CNN when he was asked if the GOP should continue to listen to Limbaugh. Powell replied, "Is this really the kind of party that we want to be when these kinds of spokespersons seem to appeal to our lesser instincts rather than our better instincts?"

Powell is right. Limbaugh is killing the Republican Party. I think most people—including the Republican women I wrote about yesterday—would rather have Colin Powell than Rush Limbaugh in the GOP.

The problem is the Democrats would love to have General Powell, but I'd bet my bottom dollar they wouldn't take Rush Limbaugh. To the DNC leadership, he's too valuable where he is—doing their best recruiting by making moderates like Powell feel unwelcome.

There was a time when I would have supported Colin Powell if he decide to run for office. However, I started having doubts about him when he didn't speak out when another man went to prison for something related to outing a CIA agent. As far as I know nothing was ever done to Powell's right hand man who actually outed the agent. I don't remember Powell speaking up at the time. Powell has never run for office and claims he is a Republican but continues to put down Sarah Palin (because she is a threat to the Democrats) and turned his back on his friend John McCain who is also a moderate Republican like him to support a Democrat Not just a Democrat but the #1 most liberal Democrat in the Senate. I find that I DONT TRUST COLIN POWELL ANYMORE! It was the Republicans who enabled him to continue his Military Career in such a high position of authority and he seems to turn on them every chance he gets. I am not well educated but I know disloyalty and caught on to him long before Rush Limbaugh and he started making their disagreements public. I was once registered as a Democrat because that was our family history. When I started thinking for myself I switched parties as did both of my siblings.

I think it is hilarious that Cheney would pick Limbaugh over Powell, but it is not surprising. Cheney was the worst VP the country has known and certainly his judgement while in office was close to criminal. Why else would he select a grossly obese drugged-up fanatic over a well-respected man who served his country admirably. If I were Powell, I'd run to join the Democratic Party, not wanting anyone to know that he ever associated with garbage like CHeney and Limburger !!!!

Rush Limbaugh, like Fred Phelps, Michael Savage and Osama Bin Laden should leave life. The end of these throw backs to the cro magnon would benefit the country in a massive way.
