Sunday is baseball's Opening Day. With the steroid scandal continuing to unfold—the commissioner and the owners seem to be blind to the massive cost of the scandal to the future of the game—I thought it might be an opportunity to talk to our daughters about steroids and their effects on baseball, from the records with an asterisk in the Hall of Fame to individual players' health.

The GIVE Act has now passed both the House and the Senate and is awaiting the president's signature. At first, it sounds good—it encourages more volunteers to participate in community service through organizations like Americorps. With protesters chanting outside the G-20 summit, the carmakers heading toward bankruptcy, and a lot of anger out there in blogosphere, I think we need to lighten things up for April Fools' Day. So in the interest of a mental health break for my readers, here's my recommendation: The Onion's running tally of joke events from the first 100 days of the Obama administration, which starts with today's entry and works backward:
