is it possible that we might get tested enough to go to war with these pirates. i think it is if the piracy doesnt stop or slow down i think Obama is willing to go to War with them. I think that they are just trying to test the New President of the United States;

The reality is, there is no simple answer to this problem. Not fighting back won't help, fighting back with force could make it worse, companies paying money to the pirates to save the captured crew members adds fuel to the fire, and not paying the ransom can result in the crew getting killed.

So what should be done to overcome this enourmous problem?

The countries affected will have to step up and do something.

Like France. Or some other nation besides the U.S.

Why is it always us that has to do the dirty work?

But you wait, America will be forced to lead the way, because the rest of the world knows we'll do it if they just wait.

The joys of being a superpower.

That's AS I SEE IT. I'm Mike "Mainer Mike" Brown.

I know you're just waiting to use there terrible tragedies as a club to attack the President with and to help out the Republicans. Make your play, Ms. Coulter, I mean Ms. Carey.

than to give young misled pirates a "Robin Hood" pass to extract ransoms, even if they so far have not been in the habit of killing people.

The answer is that ships going to that region are going to have to have security forces on board. Sooner or later, the marine insurance industry will force that.

These crooks are doing this because they get money. They don't want the ships or cargo - just the money.

The shipping companies need to spend a little of their profits to pay for protection of their vessels, and we need to sink all the little ships out in the channel. Define an area where anyone there will be sunk. End of story.

The world's navies and shipping lines ahve to show the pirates that there is no money in this, and only dead pirates. Until they do, this will persist.

We can't complan if navies attack these pirates. We should applaud it. The threats of criminals should not deter us from doing what we must.

The U.N. - oh, wait... that won't work. Obama should....Uh, on second thought - probably wishful thinking.

Maybe a cartoon Super Hero?

Or, maybe we have to wait 4 years until we come to our senses and elect a Teddy Roosevelt kinda guy... probably just the election of such a man would solve the problem - if we still have a country and a capable military by then. In the mean time we can all wring our hands and worry.

See, I told you it was simple...
