If you check out the video of the exchange on Fox 25 online, you'll see that Frank treated him quite respectfully. The law student insinuated that Frank had some responsibility for the financial crisis. However, the Republicans ruled Washington for the entire period in question, and it was the Republicans who blocked legislation to restrict subprime lending. George Bush actually required that Fannie and Freddie buy more mortgage securities compiled from subprime loans. Wall Street made billions from this -- surprise, surprise.

The people who blame Barney Frank for the crisis are the same ones who believe that Fox News is "fair and balanced." Wake up people - the Republicans ruled Washington when the crisis was building. You can try to find another scapegoat, but the facts just aren't on your side.

First, Barney has major responsibility for Fannie Mae's failed loan portfolio. There is voluminous evidence that, among other things, he pushed the lender to drop loan standards to help "disadvantaged" people buy homes. For him to deny this role, and refuse to accept responsibility shows his arrogance, and lack of character.

Second, the Harvard student questioner observes accurately that Barney and his liberal friends, eg. Maxine Waters, who also holds substantial responsibility for the Fannie Mae debacle, resort to personal attacks on anyone who disagrees with them.

Power corrupts, and Barney is a perfect example.

The clip immediately launches into Frank's rejoinder, but we can't see what came first before Frank's rejoinder. I'll wait until someone with some bonafide non-partisan credentials can say what was said immediately before Frank said "What is it you think I should have done....." Until then, I reserve judgment.

You call yourself "liberal basher" and then you agree with Cary and then bash liberals. What you failed to realize is that you have degraded the credibility of your comrades by implying that their criticism is as partisan and mindless as yours.

That's the funny thing about democrats. They will mess everything up that they touch and not take a lick of responsibility for it. Barney Frank was the same loon that was responsible for oversight of Fannie and Freddie. Did you see any government official speaking out about how we need to take back bonus money from their executives. No! It's a proven fact that Fannie and Freddie give out hundreds of thousands of dollars for various campaigns, including Chris Dodd and and Barney the Buffoon Franks. It kills me Frank Raines, made 90 million dollars running the business into the ground and we won't take a penny from him because of it.

I completely enjoyed the program. It was the quintessential illustration of what the American political system has become. I certainly do not know Mr. Pollak but he made me very proud! He exemplified clear thinking, controlled responses, and intelligence.

Congressman Frank exemplified a systemic breakdown and disconnect with the basic premises on which this country was founded. Communication and discourse between its people.

Hooray for the Joel Pollaks of the USA.

The great people of Massachusetts should be ashamed and embarrassed by this person’s actions. He is up to his nose with responsibility for at least part of the mess we are in.

Then to sit there like a pompous azz blaming everyone else and claiming no responsibility. It is beyond my how or why the people of Massachusetts continue to vote for this moron. It must be the "D" behind his name, nothing else.

Until the American people get past the party loyalty and start hold this entire lot of elected officials accountable for what they are doing to this country there will be no change, period. And I don't care what letter is behind their name. Right now they all should be voted out of office and we should start over with a new group.

Everyone who voted for this cretin should be forced to spend 5 minutes talking to him before they vote in the next election.
