I feel sorry for the very rich. They are so out of sorts with the rest of the world. They spend money on charity, but many don't have the compassion that goes with it evidently because people in America are truly suffering and many people that are suffering are very hard working American Middle Class. I don't get to be middle class anymore because I had a very long illness that took much of our money. I want to see healthcare reform. The present way that healthcare is run right now is called G R E E D in my opinion.

So when people who are very rich give to chairities, close to their hearts, remember it really is called charity, not tax deduction. One last thing. The trickle down theory where the rich would get the money and then trickle down what they didn't use, didn't work did it. I guess they needed all of it for mansions, gold plated staircases, etc. If you can't give don't be surprised when the people you take from or steal from in some cases as Maddoff, want a change of plan, a change of government.

It looks to me as if the administration wants to get everyone who depends on private charities to be on the federal dole and depend on the federal government for their support. It's the beginning of changing the country from a democratic republic to a socialist society. I hope it can be stopped.

1.) Obama will NOT necessarily get his 8 years. There are plenty of people who already didn't vote for him (i.e. 47% of the country), so it won't take much to turn the tables in 4 years.

2) Griping is more of a liberal quality to be quite honest. They have been whining (without providing alternatives) for the last 8 years/forever. Republicans are allowed to dissent. That's the beauty of democracy.. duh.

3) The reason this past conservative administration spent so much was because the entire country was screaming for action after 9/11 -- most of your beloved Democrats voted to go to war (and NOT because of intel, but because their CONSTITUENCY wanted it).

4) Private funding has already been proven to be wayyyy more efficient than its bastard public counterpart (you can look up studies on this matter). As a thought experiment - Would the government ever survive as a company within the private sector, vulnerable to the forces of competition and consumer (read: voter) accountability? The answer is a big fat NO. Leave that money in the donators pockets. Besides, aren't they just supporting things that are important to them, i.e. giving their voice? Our society should reflect the wishes of its members, NOT what politicians THINK their wishes are.

I hope this made sense, because this latest news from the Obama camp surely doesn't.

Obama is going to get his whole 8 years, so his critics may as well chill out.

The top end income tax in this country probably ought to be 60% on incomes over a million---and Obama is hardly sending you there.

Gripe. Gripe. Gripe. It's all the "conservatives" know how to do since they have proven they don't actually "conserve" anything.

First, the shift toward MONSTROUS government spending to support and fix the irresponsibility of a few. So MONSTROUS that our grandchildren will hopefully will still be paying the bill. A new part of this great deal government $$ to "restructure" mortgages that our wonderful Congress can't wait to vote for because they would like one of those mortgages too.

Now, further discouragement to the responsible homeowner -- by decreasing the mortgage interest deduction.

Icing on the cake, discouragment to the charitable giver - a "tax hike" on gifts to charity. But, not to worry, more government "giving" to its charities of choice with our money are on the way.

How many more days until this administration is over ???
