If Obama Had Run on the Stimulus Plan, He Would Have Lost

If obama is spending all our money reviving the banks and auto industry, why dont we get some of it?

1.) Instead of giving the money to Ford, GM and Chrysler, why not give each household a 30,000 voucher to use towards the purchase of a new car, that way a family would get a new car or a good amount of money towards one, the auto industry gets the money and it works out for all.

2.) Also instead of giving millions to the banks that have all our money already, and still not give out any for refinancing or modifying our home loans since we all dont have perfect credit, Why not pay off mortgages or allow each household a set amount to put towards the payoff of their mortgage, that way we get the help we need "since most people are losing their homes to forclosure, thanks to the loss of jobs every month gets higher and higher", the banks get the money from us from paying off/down our mortgages, and it ends up in the same place it would have anyway.

But hey what do i know im just a citizen who is unemployed, and very upset that all my past and future taxes are going to everyone who has the money and those of us that need it, but what does the government care they write the bills and we pay for them.

IT'S FINAL -- Stimulus Jobs Have to be Shared with Illegal Aliens -- Banks Can Replace U.S. Workers

UNBELIEVABLE!

Thanks for all your hard work to create a different outcome, but I regretfully have to inform you that:

All protections for U.S. workers were stripped from the Stimulus Bill tonight. Illegal aliens can be hired at the same rate as usual.

House Speaker Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Reid and the Obama White House were absolutely certain about one thing for the House/Senate negotiating committee on the Stimulus Bill:

There was to be no special restriction to keep illegal aliens from getting new jobs created by the bill at a cost of $250,000 to $500,000 each.

The Democratic leadership of our federal government made it clear that there has been no change from eight years of a Republican White House that let the Chamber of Commerce call the shots on immigration.

Pelosi, Reid and Obama gave the U.S. Chamber of Commerce exactly what it wanted -- freedom for unscruplous businesses to continue to hire illegal aliens at the same rate as in the past, and to use the hundreds of billions of Stimulus dollars to do it.

Pelosi, Reid and Obama also made sure that banks can continue to discriminate against Americans in favor of cheaper more compliant foreign workers.

The pro-illegal-alien Stimulus Bill will now go back to the Senate and House where it is expected to pass.

The only way this type of anti-American-worker, closed-door autocracy is going to be stopped is if all of you reading this do everything possible to spread this story so that all Americans know what happened. If you don't spread it, they won't know because the mainstream media thus far have blacked out the news.

Is what is going on here. People have difficulty understanding the complexity of the problem before us and spout old partisan platitudes. It would be merely pathetic if it wasn't so dangerous. One doesn't have to be a economist to realize this is not a normal recession. We are in a serious once in a century spiraling deleveraging of the US economy and have dragged the world down along with us. Our banks have become a house of cards and would have already failed if not for President Bush and Paulson infusing them with cash (BofA and Citibank are essentially operating on TARP money). Try collecting a paycheck without a bank to extend the credit. We may not recover if we don't take drastic action now. President Obama has gathered a team of the brightest financial minds in the country to try and save our asses. Funny how Republicans who lauded his picks a couple months ago now skewer their decisions because it poses a philosophical canard. The self confessed Hypocrits have now become protectors of the treasury after squandering 4 trillion dollars in the last 8 years. (Its in our interest to spend a trillion or 2 dollars on Iraqi freedom. Now they're expertise is absolute as they roll out the supply side theory tax cuts. If people don't have jobs they can't pay taxes to get them cut. Can't buy cars and homes neither. Cities are drowning in debt and can't print money. How about can't keep the City Hospital open, can't pay the firefighter or garbage collector. We have to spend now and recover and later this year start thinking about deconstructing our entitlement programs. This Stimulus Bill debt is nothing compared to the impending cost of Medicare and Social Security down the road. The cost of those is TENS of TRILLIONS and have to be drastically modified by this democratic president. I dare say President Obama will have to be the Lincoln of our day, because he is going to have to make very painful decisions that nobody will like. An economist stated this was our economic Pearl Harbor. If we listen to politicians such as John McCain it will turn into an economic nuclear winter.

No doubt there will not be any easy fixes the the hole these GOP dug us into.

Seriously two weeks in office don't displace the blame of this economic crash and the current GOP is not offering anything other then rehashed Bush/GOP calamitous policies or celebrity soundbites. Sorry these GOP PR stunts are not working or not bringing back any jobs.

If the mid term elections are the only jobs these jokers are concerned with, they should just resign now.

and are in debt beyond comprehension. Now, we're being told that answer is to print money, further debasing our currency.... Smells like mendacity fried in pork fat.

R.L. Schaefer of CA 1:55PM February 08, 2009

We not only have another fradulent politician in Obama, we have an inexperienced fraud who in 2 weeks has not only not changed Washington as he campaigned but has deeply rooted the worst of the old time back slapping back room political classes. Who in his administration is what ou thought he campaigned on? Makes sense when you consider he was elected by the young naieve teary eyed idealists as well as the biggest voter assistance fraud in history.

JS of OH 4:58AM February 08, 2009

Yes, let's spend money until our currency is completely debased and we resemble Argentina. I look forward to the day that we can buy a loaf of bread with a $1,000 US Dollars. Can you state with any degree of certainty that "Porculus" will suddenly decelerate job losses, free up the credit markets, and put us on the road to recovery? Why are we rushing to spend a trillion dollars? Not defending Bush or TARP, but we should be very, very careful about passing more debt onto our children. I guess, though, that because the "great one" has petulantly decreed that debate is pointless, that we must do what is best for the fatherland...The world as we know it will end unless we TAKE ACTION NOW!

Obama has far more important items on his plate to deal with. Let me tick off a few: Social Security, Medicare, Energy Independence. He's impatient because he knows most presidents legislative accomplishments take place in the firt 100 days.

And just to set the record straight, Gary. The reason pump priming didn't work during the great deppresion was due to the fact they waited too long ( did nothing) to act and by the time they did it was too late. The same thing in Japan. Pumping cash into the system worked wonders in Denmark because they acted swiftly and boldly. Not like a pack of indecisive cowards who are so afraid of making a decision that might not be popular that they let the sky fallb in before acting. That is what we are currently seeing.

Devin Itjen of PA 10:29PM February 07, 2009

I guess if it were up to the top 2 posters, we would do nothing. After all, we all saw the miracles of doing nothing hard at work during the great depression. Doing nothing at all worked wonders early on in Japan's recession of the 1990's, too.Perhaps some of us should read a history book before posting this mindless drivel... While there was too much pork in the House stimulus, I am glad to see they took it down a notch in the Senate. Thank god I am neither Democrat nor Republican so I can see it for what it really is. Far-left Dems and their pointless spending and the Republicans with their tax cuts for the super-rich, big business, and unemployed. God, we need a third party. I love the Repulicans talking about being the party of fiscal responsibility after Bush Sr. raised taxes on everyone, then Jr. Comes along and cuts them for the top 10-15 percent of the country. I can't even see how anyone could be affiliated with that party anymore. Its the party of thuggery, scare tactics, and the non-intellectual. And shame on the Dems for trying to bulk up a stimulus bill with goodies in a time of crisis in this country. I say we do it. After all, we have nothing to lose. Doing nothing will destroy our financial system and it will have to be re worked. The stimulus will do the same exact thing if it doesn't work. But if it does work then maybe it will pull us out of this hole we are in that gets worse by the day.
