Meet the Coffee Party, a Kinder, Gentler, More Liberal Tea Party

I think you completely missed the point that the Coffee party is "supposed" to have NO party affiliation. Your remarks make it completely clear that you are a Tea Partier of the Democratic variety;nay, even more Radical, wanting to destroy anything that is even remotely opposing the Democratic party agenda. You are afraid, you may get pissed of and say something, that would make you look stupid?

I am afraid you already did it daah'ling.

Yes, health insurance reform is needed, but the way the O bulldozed everybody in his path, and gave America a big BONUS-- higher debt for our kids and grandkids, was NOT the way to do it. If anyone provided fire for the Tea Party movement, he did.

Just Beacuse You Say Violence, Doesn't Make It True.

Just Because You Say Radical, Doesn't Make It True.

However, I Do Recall A Video Of A Union Rep. Beating Up A Guy Protesting Obama!

Giving Advice On How To Set Up A Brothel And Aviod Taxes? Not Radical?

Sounds like a bunch of ACORN wannabees.

An attempt to water down the Tea Party Movement.

Insted of demonizing, it would be smarter to find common ground.

Where were you guys when they were calling Bush everything under the sun, but now it's the kinder gentiler....PLEASE.. How many excuses can you give Obama and all the rest. Throw everyone out in Novermber.

chris of NY 11:16AM April 02, 2010

just another ploy for so called conserative republicans. Only right radicals could take them seriously. Health reform is needed, if any of these tea party people has had a loved one seriously ill. They would know how fast you can be bankrupt. Even with medicare and good secondary insurance I almost lost every thing when my husband was so ill. I would advise conservative leaders to calm down there tea party friends, and show more patriotic interest, It will reflect at the poles

gee i hope somewhere along the line that the radicals discover that violence is not always the best way. one of the most unique parts of our politics in this country is that it is ok to disagree. anyhow it is my wish that both of the new party movements grow loud enough that finally our so called self indulgent leaders in congress finally get the message in that we the people are tired of being ignored. i would propose that we as American patriots find enough common ground in these movements to make much needed improvements to our political process PEACEFULLY.with not only our congressional leaders being out of touch with the average American our president i do believe is also out of touch. my message to those in congress that are ignoring the people of this country your days may very well be numbered. these new movements will most likely identify the lame ducks and get them voted out of office and hopefully put in you place people that are truely dedicated to doing the right thing for this country. please note no where in this posting have i mentioned any kind of violent act against anyone. folks get out and vote with your pen and ink and thru ballots. there is no excuse for our political parties having such low approval ratings. it is past time that our political leaders be held accountable by us the people.further more our leaders need to be held to much higher standards of ethics and behavior and be held fully accountable to the people. a politician should never feel nor believe that they are above the law. anytime our congressional approval ratings drop below 75% the leaders need to be replaced. the same goes for our presidential leader. these people are suppose to be working for us not them selves nor any kind of special interest. lets fix these problems so that this country can again be a place admired by the rest of the world. a place folks can look to and say with admiration that they wish they could be like us. a country that we can ALL be proud of again.

Ms Killian uses the term "ruling class" in the article. That is part of the problem. We should not have a ruling class. We have a representative democracy. England had a ruling class and that is part of what our forefathers fought against in the Revolution. Is the system broken? YES! And Ms Park has an excellent point that if there 435 people worked for a business they would all be fired. It is actually up to the American people to fix the system so that it actually works again. Hopefully the Coffee Party movement will lead us to that end.

Rose Clark of WA 1:26PM March 19, 2010

I will support my President, and for the people who think the Gov take over is President Oboma's goal I say REALLY! The last President and his party had almost desroyed our country! The ultimate controle was to be forced into a WAR that has thrown us into financial destruction, and then to top it off they deregulated the banks and market and gave all their rich buddies tax breaks. Talk gov take over! then pay attention to how everyone sat back and watched the years our Gov. was destroyed by bad decisions one after the next. Now we have a President that is putting the people first and trying to fix this mess. Why do people associate Oboma pulling in the reins as some sort of take over. Maybe your idea of fixing this mess is do Nothing.

Nina Platter of WA 5:28PM March 17, 2010

This was a great idea, I despise the teaparty screemers. I resent that in there hostility and bad signs, and stupid rants, they say they are speaking for the American people. They don't speak for me, and they don't speak with wisdom, or correct facts. I have almost hoped never to have to deal with them face to face because I am worried that I would get pissed and look as stupid as they do. I do agree with one thing that was mentioned above, that if this was a Corp. run Gov. the Republicans would be fired, and Leberman and a few Traters in the Dem. party. I just hope the teabagers dont think they are invited to the coffee side.

Nina Platter of WA 5:03PM March 17, 2010

we were excited when we 1st heard about the COFFEE PARTY & the premise of everyone coming together on a personal face to face basis to civilly discuss the state of America

however we were disconcerted when we learned that it's founder & her boyfriend, Annabel Park worked/volunteered to make a documentary for the Obama campaign {perhaps not exactly overly objective?!}

and it's true that the origin of the Coffee Party idea was a TIRADE by Annabel on her Facebook page against the Tea Party

now there's bipartisanship and NONpartisanship & the two are plainly NOT the same -- so we do hope that Ms. Park's purpose is truly to ENCOURAGE CIVIL DISCOURSE FOR "ALL" - regardless of their party affiliations & beliefs . . . otherwise as other commenters here have already pointed out - the Coffee Party merely becomes ANOTHER liberal movement to serve their own agenda

we will reserve judgement until they have "identified" some of their "chosen" candidates to support for the upcoming elections . . . if we see MODERATES FROM 'BOTH' PARTIES AND MORE INDEPENDENTS -- rather than more of the same old tired politicians promising to "toe the party line" THEN we will be the 1st to stand up & applaud

yet we will STILL continue to call for a VIABLE THIRD PARTY OF MODERATE INDEPENDENTS {or as Senator Bayh proclaimed a "SANER version of Ross Perot"!!} or perhaps decaf;-) anyone

the latest polls show Democrats 35% - INDEPENDENTS 33% - Republicans 32%

here's ANOTHER interesting site:

http://www.uscentrist.org/

which apparently never really took off?! yet some very thoughtful topics

Ms. Parks definitely needs to bring in someone to help her rework her Coffee Party site - the last time we looked - it was a jumble of disoriented comments . . . BUT again we agree 100% with the original premise of CIVIL DISCOURSE & JOINING TOGETHER TO FORGE AHEAD ON 'COMMON GOALS'

when all is said & done - we ALL have a stake in the future greatness of America -- don't we?
