Harry wanted to be the first (other than Caucasion) U.S. President until he had his wings clipped in Tennessee. He sees a chance to garner a power base in NewYork with his eyes on the White House. He will say or do anything to anyone to bring that dream to fruition. Fortunately, I believe the good people of New York will recognize a CARPETBAGGER and snake oil salesman trying to shape himself in the mold of the Senator-elect from Massachusettes, and has visions of controling the Democratic agenda like Joe Liebermann; the "Republicrat". He has already signalled his intention by the statements he is making in this early hour. New Yorkers...Send his ass packing as-soon-as you can and don't believe the hype. Ford's pledges to be INDEPENDENT are not designed with the common people of New York; his boasts are in fact the turn coat ravings of another elitist for hire whom will use opposition to the President as a stepping stone to achieve his true agenda which is to challenge for the White House in 2012 or 2016. I am a Black man, however, I am an independent who can and does make decisions on my elected leaders on based on trust, loyalty, and my belief from past actions that an individual will do the right thing; not because he or she may call themselves Black. Ford's ranting about not doing what the Majority Leader Reid says has no more bearing on being an effective Senator than you or I taking that tag off a pillow that reads "Do Not Remove". His statement is in lock step with the prevailing popular theme for now bucking against incumbents. Why has Mr. Ford stated a position that requires a intestinal fortitude (or a Pair of BA...)like getting rid of the ancient Fillibuster Rules so that the Party in the Majority can actually get something accomplished? No, that would allow the common voter like you or I to have too much power...something neither party is willing to do. A simple majority rule would leave politicians at the mercy of you and I...in other words we could vote their asses out if they don't do what we say. The Corprations would be neutered 'cause they only have 1 vote regardless of the billions they may spend on a candidate. Imagine it if you will...Corporations would have to contribute to us voting Americans. The weekend junkets, donations, gifts, meetings, etc. to working individuals rather than the few who now get elected and begin their re-election campaigns immediately threafter. How many of you have the cell number of your Congressman or Senator? So what I'm rambling but if I lied somewhere...please respond. Respond in kind New Yorkers to Harold Ford with a rebuke of his quaisi-faux Democrat/Independent banter. YOU are a Democratic state...there is a Democrat in the White House. Support him and the rest will work itself out. We don't need anymore Liebermans at the seat of decision making... We all know that he and others (ON BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE)are bought and paid for many times over by big business. Keep Gillibrand.

Harold Ford puts an end to the Democrat dream.

Ford is more than a diva. He is a man who

has nothing but disdain for the white working class.

He is one of those light-skinned Negroes who does not speak

with a Negro accent who thinks he can win over the

Wall Street and banking elites. Ford is a turncoat

and will eventually kill the Democrats agenda.

I hope everyone comes back to view theses comments. I was the FIRST person to register with the FEC in this race, even before Caroline Kennedy was on the scene. I am anxious to get more support state-wide and welcome calls from the people posting here.

If you really are disgusted with the way Washington and NY is run, then you can help me change things. I am not a career politician nor want to be. I don't just hop States looking for an open Senate seat.

I am an upstate New Yorker who worked and contributed to Kirsten Gillibrand's original campaign for Congress. We succeeded in turning an old-time Republican district to the Democratic column, and that was great, but Gillibrand showed her fickle nature by immediately pushing the Governor to appoint her to Senator Clinton's seat. Believe it or not one of her principal backers in this was ex-Senator Al D'Amato, a disgraced Republican, but an old pal.

Gillibrand is a lightweight who is the NRA's poster-child. We need a true person of real character for this historic seat .. and I am hoping Congressman Ford runs. He will win in November, but she will not.

Gillibrand=Dartmouth Summa c um Laude, clerked for appeals court judge, served with HUD, worked at two of America's best law firms.

Helicopter Harold = failed to pass this country's easiest bar exam.

"And of course it would be a lot of fun to watch."

It's not a lot of fun if you are a New York Democrat who contributes money to these things -- which Ford's ego-trip is now wasting. And then there's the very slim chance that he might win. (shudder) There's a certain kind of dopey reporter who likes to look at politics as some kind of team sport. Perhaps we'd have better government of writers like that took politics a bit more seriously.

Harold Ford will be a great Senator. I keep waiting for his website to launch. While Gillibrand is a puppet of Schumer and a light weight Ford is pledging to be independent. On the healthcare bill Obama wants to slash medicaid and close clinics here and Ford opposes that like Bloomberg and Paterson. Go Ford! Set up your website!!
