Like Sarah Palin, Early Feminists Were Pro-Life

I find it unfortunate that this article crucifies woman who have had abortions and doesn't say word one about the inequalities that women face every single day in the real world--- child and wife abuse, rape, lower pay for equal work, fewer opportunities for career and education, greater responsibilities inside and outside the home, the ease with with men skip away after creating offspring, never to send a support check--- ever, lack of quality day care, lack of NONJUDGMENTAL help, less likely to have health insurance, etc... Fix those things and abortion rates will lower accordingly.

Ms Palin is NOT a feminist. She is a facile, intellectual midget that refers to "our NORTH Korean allies" and numerous other gaffes, too numerous to catalog. I am embarrassed that she is on the public stage. Her 15 minutes are up! Bring in Hilary Clinton or another woman who has earned her place.

Yes, the woman who was raped and got pregnant as a result is wrong and tragic but it still does not justify killing a child that was created.

Women are intelligent and responsible human beings who often have a strong commitment to values like justice and nonviolence, or at least "live and let live."

Women like this realize that we've violated our own deepest ideals, if we've rejected and ruined our own offspring before birth.

We are intelligent enough to see this, and responsible enough to know that it's something we cannot be proud of. We can and must come up with something better.

I had not heard much about the concept of "prolife feminism" before, but it appeals to my better nature on both counts. I intend to learn more about it. It already has my respect.

I wish to applaud you on a well written comment on the abortion situation we are in.

RL Schaefer made many valid arguments against abortion, and I agree with each of the 12 points presented. Murder of anyone of any age for any reason is a crime and should be treated the same. The murder of the unborn is always premeditated murder or murder in the 1st degree. The women and doctors and their accomplices should be prosecuted like any other murderers. As to the children, they are better off in heaven than with a mother who would murder a child.

"Women have "reproductive" rights. They can choose not to have sex."

Not all women have this choice all of the time. Would you support an abortion for someone who was raped? I assume you wouldn't because that would make you a hypocrite. The child of a rapist is not as valuable as the child of an "irresponsible" woman? That is not a very Christian outlook if you ask me.

How about if a pregnancy results in a complication during pregnancy that means there is a choice between the mother's life or the baby's life? If they are both human beings with souls then one is not more valuable than the other. Why should it be the mother that is saved? She was the one that decided to have sex right?

1. Unlike our president, most people aren’t blinded by ideology, and know when life begins. They may chose to ignore the fact - but in their hearts they know, and it slowly wears on them.

2. It’s pretty hard to hide from science and ultrasounds. It's obvious to anyone with an intact cerebral cortex that it is a human in the womb - not a turnip or tadpole. But there are none so blind as those who will not see. And, nothing blinds more than a mirror held closely to the face.

3. It’s a fact that over 90% of abortions are performed after irresponsible sex, and are used in place of birth control measures by the selfish.

4. Nearly all abortions are done for convenience.

5. Many women who have aborted babies, and later have children, are haunted by the knowledge that the ones now cradled in their arms are the brothers or sisters of those dismembered in her womb.

6. Many women have learned to resist the indoctrination of "Rad-Fem" groups, and realize they can be feminists and still act responsibly. And, that being a loving mother is the proudest goal of all.

7. Most folks realize that no one’s personal agenda is so important that it can’t be compromised for 9 months for the sake of a human life.

8. Common sense screams at most of us that an infant in the womb should enjoy the same safety and protection as the egg of an eagle, tortoise or condor.

9. Most states still consider it murder to kill a baby in the womb - unless it is done by an abortionist at the mother’s request. It follows then that it is the “wanting” of us that makes us human to “progressives”. This twisted logic is a dark portent for the mentally ill, handicapped and elderly.

10. We have an aging population - After a few decades of life most of us come to realize the importance of objective morality, and that because an act is legal, doesn’t make it moral in the eyes of God. Or perhaps, upon reflecting on the collected years of our lives, we come to understand that there are no memories, no love, no birthdays, no remarkable deeds experienced by those killed in the womb - only an empty stage upon which the curtain was never raised.

11. Women have “reproductive rights”. They have a right to chose not to have sex. They, and their partner, have a right and obligation to use birth control. They have a right to chose alternative sexual activities that will not result in pregnancy. They have a right not to have sex during the 3 days each month when pregnancy is an issue (yes, that does require some responsible planning). They have a right to put the baby up for adoption after 9 months. But should they be able to kill another human being for the sake of personal convenience after acting irresponsibly? Only in a world gone mad with, “progressive” hedonism.

12. A baby only becomes a fetus for a woman who doesn't want it.

It is pretty hard to hide the true face of something so heinous as abortion. Truly, for love of God - stand against the slaughter.
