Obama’s Big Budget

Taxing Oil would shift costs to consumers? So let's say we take 1 billion away from their 10 billion annual profit that means that they would shift that 1 billion to the consumers? When in reality 10 years ago they were only making 1 billion annual profit? So that means 10 years ago they shifted 9 billion onto consumers? No. That is circular logic.

Tax cuts? I'm not saying they're a bad idea. But a business isn't going to hire more people when consumers aren't buying their products either way. So tax cuts accomplish the same thing as spending. Except, spending creates ~4X greater increase in GDP than a tax cut.

The trickle down effect DOES NOT WORK. Look at Reagan on. The only problem with us spending now is that we never pay down the debt in times of economic prosperity (except under Clinton). It is essential to Keynesian economics to pay down the debt.

People are flipping out over our debt due to fox news and other brainwashing networks. The demand for $T bills hasn't been higher. Our debt has not even reached 100% of our GDP. Think about it. Let's say I make 40K a year. What if I take out a mortgage, should I only purchase a home of 40K value? I'm not saying a ~$14trillion debt is a good thing, but it's manageable.

It's manageable if we implement reforms. We need a VAT, without a doubt and I don't know of a fairer way. We need to totally reform healthcare (Medicare) and Social Security. After that we'd be in good shape.

And who are all of these republicans complaining about spending? Did you witness the last 8 years or are you brain dead? Spending money we didn't have. Bush signed the Medicare Part D plan knowing we had no way to pay for it. I mean seriously, Obama is taking over where Bush left off. And to pretend that McCain wouldn't be bailing out the banks is by far the funniest thing I've ever heard. If you have a problem with this spending then you have a problem with ALL politicians. I rest my case.

Why are we always talking about cutting services to the poor? Why is that even an option in a civilized society? Why is it all right to let poor people starve to death, but it's not alright to halt the fraud, waste and abuse the IS the War On Terror?
