Obama’s Popularity Plunge

Sadly, the basic attacks and criticisms that were part of the campaign arguments in 2008 against Barack Obama as president are all becoming self-evident ["The Incredible Deflation of Barack Obama," usnews.com]. I think President Obama is a good man; he is just not up to the job and has surrounded himself with people who do not act in the basic interest of America. The 2010 midterm elections will begin to correct all this. Hopefully the damage done and yet to be done will be reversible by the free market society that America was founded on. I really thought we learned a lesson with Jimmy Carter, [but] apparently not.

The pendulum swings both ways. Right now the Democrats are destroying themselves. A few years ago it was the Republicans. It seems the worst thing that can happen to either party is for it to get control of both the legislative and executive branches. Both President Bush and President Obama rolled over for their congressional majorities. The divided government of the late 1990s looks good after the last year, except we have the same kind of executive, a weak Democrat who wrings his hands when it comes to responding to terrorists.

Now we have even the news media people saying they are surprised about Obama...even they were duped into thinking Obama was a level-headed politician, which clearly he is not. Obama is right now what he was before the election, a smooth-talking Chicago politician. All the records were there, what few there were. I guess people wanted to think positive. The old hope and change thing. Next election it will be the same message from a different politician. I just hope people will actually try to find out something about the person they vote for.

Mort [Mortimer Zuckerman], that is one of the best political articles I have ever read. It was direct and well-organized and right on the money. It does not resort to personal attacks, as many other "Obama has fallen" articles [have] but is objective and factual. I hope the administration reads this article and understands that you have summed up American anger. It is not racial, it is not partisan, and it is not ignorant. Nicely done.

And just think, the president gave himself a "B+" or make that a "strong B+." Talk about being out of touch with reality! Fortunately my children's teachers are not pushovers when it comes to giving grades, thereby forcing my children to learn and actually achieve results. We as a country unfortunately got what we wanted—change for the sake of change. One more thing to think about. We elected a community organizer just two years removed from the state senate, and we deemed him qualified beyond a reasonable doubt to assume the most important job in the world. To those who voted for him and thought him qualified, I would ask one question of you: If you ever need a major medical procedure, such as a bypass, would you go to a nearby medical school and select the best speaker from the current crop of graduates and ask him to head up and perform the operation? Well that is what we just did when it came to selecting the president of our country.

It is astounding that the President of the United States does not 'define' the American borders as a part of the pledge that he swore to protect and defend the interest of the people of America and our Constitution. Prior to his election, Obama was quoted, "...the Constitution is a flawed document that reflected life in the Colonial times...the same blind spots exist today as then..." This was an eerie sign to me that this man had a philosophy that does not go hand with traditional American values. After the notorious Bush diatribe that shocked the nation "The Constitution is just a goddamn piece of paper" I couldn't believe the current administration would have the nerve to do the same un-American crap!

President Obama and his Goldman Sachs appointees are ready for the impeachment process for treason and high crimes and misdemeanors...enough is enough! If the President of the United States does not want to put first the interest of the American People then he can not be the person at the highest level of this country's government!! He is guilty of treason and Goldman Sachs has moved into the White House, propping up their feet on the desk of the American peoples coffee table! I want our freedoms back and this President has followed this Socialist agenda at the expense of the American far too long! Enough is enough!!

The economy is like a car with no brakes, and clearly we were on the wrong direction and speed over the last 8 years. For people to think changes will happen in less than 1 year and blaming Obama and his team for all this clearly have short term memory, or refuse to see.

GM is doin better and now Toyota is slowing down (Thx Obama !), Wall Street paid back their loans WITH INTEREST and Dividends (Fed mad $54 billions last year on Wall Street) .. thx Obama ! AIG already sold for units for $50 billions and are returning back to profits ... Thx Obama !

Before thinking the job market will get better, that our budget will improve, we have to fix the damage done by the Republicans. The GOP came to power when the budget was balanced (ie surplus !) and managed to screw it up, adding tax breaks for the ultra rich to make it worse. Keep in mind the budget deficit during Bush era didn't account for the cost of war, for which the democrats are accounting for, making the deficit worse than it seems (or the GOP budget was better than it seemed ...).

People accusing Obama and team are unfair. They are willing to make things worse in order to blame the Democrats, which is not a patriotic thing to do. You have to aknowledge the damage done over the last 8 years and work toward making things better (ie fixing things first as well ...). Refusing to see or to admit is the most hypocritical thing to do ... shame on you.

As my wife and I were returning home from a movie theater this evening, I spoke nearly the exact same words that Bill of NY did. It really was uncanny. In my life time, there really has been no president as bad as Carter until Obama came along. Why do we keep electing these, apparently, very intelligent people that are completely void of wisdom and common sense? The loftier their agenda, the more detached and dangerous they become to the interest of the nation.
