Testing the Republican Purity Push
Tweet Share on Facebook November 26, 2009 Comment (4)Many assume that the Republicans can't win with this platform, but I think they can ["Republicans Push European-Style Political System," usnews.com]. While it may frustrate the politicos of the media and Washington elites, it will not frustrate the electorate. As for this eliminating Reagan and others, I think not. Reagan believed in these principles. His policies increased government revenue. However, he had a Congress led by the opposing party. Bush, however, did fail because he had a Republican Congress and still increased the debt. There seems to be madness in Washington. Our leaders have spent until we are beyond broke, and they will not recognize it. The only legislation they should be considering is that which would eliminate programs, that which would reduce our burden. Taxing rich people can only go so far. Adding taxes to medical suppliers, drug companies, corporations or insurance companies will only increase our burden because all those taxes will be passed to the consumer in cost. Unless they can think of ways to reduce government expenditures our Congress should take a long recess.

Representatives Serve Their Constituents, Not Their Party

Black Friday Backlash
Tweet Share on Facebook November 25, 2009 Comment (4)I have been working in retail for over 20 years ["Stores Open on Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday," usnews.com]. The best advice is to do research; make a list of what stores and what you want to buy. Have a game plan. Go online look at the fliers, print out or cut the coupons you are going to use. Be polite and nice to the cashiers and sales associates, why? Because we usually have to be at work at 3 am or earlier to get the store ready for the sale. If item is sold out, don't take it out on the sales associate; it's not their fault someone got it first. Walk don't rush into a store; are you human beings or a herd of stampeding buffalo? Be patient and prepared at the register checkout because there will be long lines, no need to be rude and rush the cashier. He/she is doing the best they can. It's not easy and it's a lot of hard work. I prefer to shop online...working in a store is the last place I'd like to be on Black Friday.

Healthcare Reform and Patient Choice
Tweet Share on Facebook November 23, 2009 Comment (2)Healthcare is already rationed in the U.S.—it's controlled either by one's finances or, more often, by one's insurer ["Commentary: Health Reform, An Assault on Doctor-Patient Choice," usnews.com]. Rationing via wealth will not change. Out-of-network providers aren't going away—the wealthy will still be able to obtain private healthcare. However, this administration does have an opportunity to provide access to folks who now have none, and perhaps to return doctor-patient choice to the doctor and the patient. For most folks, the current reality is that healthcare control rests with one's insurer. Compared to all other 'developed' nations, the United States is alone in this regard.

Healthcare Reform is Worth Higher Taxes
Tweet Share on Facebook November 23, 2009 CommentWhy should we not have taxes for the most fundamental aspect of life—our health. Without our health, everything else is meaningless.

Jesse Jackson on Healthcare
Tweet Share on Facebook November 20, 2009 Comment[Jesse Jackson] was the very best at commanding an audience and was a terrific spokesman for black America. Time has passed him by, though. Barack Obama is the new wave—a living demonstration of what can be done by being an example instead of a rabble rouser.

Questions Surrounding the Stimulus Spending
Tweet Share on Facebook November 20, 2009 CommentI think it is sensationalism to say that the errors on recovery.gov were a fraud or a sham ["Uncovering Obama's Stimulus Sham," usnews.com]. You have individuals reporting their congressional districts, and most just don't know them. So [Vice President] Biden is right to say, "Fix it." That is the best part of government transparency. When there is an error, everyone knows, and they can fix it. These issues exist in the private sector as well as the public sector. And the more we take issues like this and sensationalize them, the less government (right or left wing) is going to want to provide that visibility. So let's fix the data issues, and let's focus on the real problems. Individual projects not on budget or seemingly wasteful? That's a news story, and even a liberal like me wants that fixed. But we aren't fixing those problems when we're busy cooking up a story where there isn't one.

Sarah Palin Isn't Your Average Politician

Carrie Prejean and the Christian Right
Tweet Share on Facebook November 19, 2009 Comment (11)I am a Christian and never, ever would I think of doing anything even close to what Carrie has done ["Poll: Should Conservative Christians Renounce Carrie Prejean's Lewd Pursuits?" usnews.com]. She is not a model Christian—she is a hypocrite that is using Christianity as facade. Yes, Christians aren't perfect however she does not even take fault for her mistakes so how can she be forgiven? She continues to lie, and I don't want to be associated with someone like her.

Would Sarah Palin 2012 be a Republican Disaster?
Tweet Share on Facebook November 18, 2009 Comment[Sarah Palin] will run [in 2012]—what else is there for her to do? The question is who will run alongside her…no one wants to hold the grenade in their hands, especially when everyone else is running for cover.
