The Healthcare Hurdle
Tweet Share on Facebook August 20, 2009 Comment (5)We need a rational and lengthy health reform discussion that excludes politics and has the common interest of the country at heart ["Why Obama's Failing Big on Healthcare Reform," usnews.com]. This does not mean everyone will get everything they want. There will be winners and losers but overall the national interest and what we can afford at this time should be the decisive factors. Let's show the world that we are a country that believes in the intelligence of human beings to reach rational decisions after democratic debate. Isn't that what other nations expect of the United States and what we expect of ourselves?

America Wants Stability, Not Change
Tweet Share on Facebook August 19, 2009 Comment (2)[Americans] sense this healthcare proposal and Obama's liberal agenda have too big a margin of error.

Allowing Guns Around Obama or Other Politicians Is Crazy
Tweet Share on Facebook August 18, 2009 Comment (4)These people who carry guns around at the meetings with the president or any political meeting with elected officials regardless of whether it is lawful or not are crazy.

Baby Boomers and 'Their' 1960s Woodstock Culture
Tweet Share on Facebook August 18, 2009 Comment (1)Why do we have to relive the 1960s every decade ["10 Places to Relive the '60s," usnews.com]? Baby boomers feel that the sun rose (and is now setting) on their generation. Other generations are not trying to "re-create" the 1960s. This article is another example of the over-inflated boomer ego. Music festivals are festivals. Woodstock was a huge example but not the first and obviously not the last. I would not be proud of a generation whose massive flower power numbers failed to bring peace, only years of war and huge debt.

Postal Service Problems
Tweet Share on Facebook August 17, 2009 Comment (10)It is unfortunate that the U.S. Postal Service is in decline just like the newspaper and magazine industries ["U.S. Postal Service Fights for Survival," usnews.com]. This reality is a sign of the times and the Internet has become the most convenient, readily available, and widely used means for information and communication. E-mail and paperless bills are continuously replacing traditional mail the USPS handles and will continue to do so in succeeding generations as we rely more and more on the Web.

The Eagles are Right to Give Michael Vick a Chance

Sarah Palin and End of Life Care
Tweet Share on Facebook August 14, 2009 Comment (11)This is not any kind of admission by the Senate panel that Sarah Palin knew what she was talking about [Score One for Sarah Palin on the Healthcare Reform Death Panels, usnews.com]. She was telling a proven lie about this part of the bill, which was proposed by Republican Johnny Isakson. This was a triumph of misinformation, nothing more. The Senate decided it was not worth the fight. I wish they had decided differently, and not because I thought the provision to the bill was critical. The larger issue is that every time we allow lies and misinformation to win we sow the seed for more lies and misinformation. "We the people" put more power in the hands of politicians every time we reward them for lying to our faces.

Hillary Clinton Should Always Keep Her Cool
Tweet Share on Facebook August 14, 2009 Comment (3)As the USA's top diplomat, [Hillary Clinton] needs to put on a face as circumstances require. Anything a college student, or anyone else, might say should not be able to rile her publicly.

Unhappy Voters and the Endless Healthcare Debate
