David Letterman Vs. Sarah Palin

Personally, I can’t believe this is even a story. A second-tier joke by a comedian past his prime and yet it’s managed to get even more attention than Speidi. So what’s the uproar about? Apparently, the daughter that Palin took to the game was her 14-year old, not-yet-knocked-up-daughter, not her 18-year old who had actually been knocked up. Okay, so because Letterman has the research department of Wikipedia, he is now being villainized as a creepy old pedophile. Seems like a bit of a stretch.

David Letterman is using the comment about Sarah Palin for his own gain to boost his career. Shame of him for even speaking on his show about the children of Sarah Palin.

With regards to the joke situation, I think Sarah Palin and some others are making a mountain out of a molehill. Give it a rest already. David Letterman has apologized twice. This is enough, and I don’t feel that he should be punished for a joke. Everyone should remember that he is a comedian. Comedians tell jokes and sometimes some people find the jokes offensive. Isn’t that the trend. Since when have we become such a sensitive country that comedians can’t tell jokes. If the older daughter knows she is not knocked up by anyone, then so what. I think one of the reasons why Sarah Palin is making such a big deal out of this is because she had some hurt or embarrassment because of the other daughter’s pregnancy and broken relationship. My gut feeling is the truth is what is hurting Sarah Palin so; thus she is lashing out strongly against David Letterman.

David Letterman Vs. Sarah Palin

Ok, so we have David Letterman not a great Entertainer, ok, a barley passable overpaid Entertainer.

And we have Sarah Palin who was a member of the Alaskan Independence Party which, since the 1970s, has been pushing for a legal vote for Alaskans to decide whether or not residents of the 49th state can secede from the United States.

Both Letterman and Pailin are very, very distasteful, they are both over paid and dont represent the views of most Americans.

America has more pressing issues.

We should be talking about why Americans who cant afford health care, are committing suicide. Its in the news at least once a month, some time's once a week. Family's are offing them self's because of medical bills. Suicide should not be a solution to unfordable health care.

Most Suicides are not reported in the news because Government agency's fear a cascade effect. I fear that Americans are killing them self's everyday because they cant afford health care. If you work for Walmart minimum slave wages, and have to supplement state aid to survive, how can you afford health care. I think its reflects poorly on the

U.S.A that American family's are committing Suicide because they cant afford health care.

The issue here, for me at least, is the age of BOTH daughters in question. A-Rod is a grown man and able to fend for himself. He also made choices himself to be in the public eye. The Palin girls did not choose the life they've been handed. The oldest is still only 18, and while she had a lapse in judgement that led to her baby's birth, she showed great courage in not terminating the pregnancy before anyone COULD ridicule her. There are few over the age of 21 who can honestly say there is nothing in their past they would want to hide from public examination. Adults who attack teenagers, jokingly or otherwise, are beneath contempt. It's obvious Letterman has no daughters or he would understand. I will never watch him do anything again.

The Palin children have been fodder for comedians since they were brought to the national stage -- Jay Leno is way ahead of David Letterman in Palin family jokes, including ones with similar content. Also, Conan, Craig Ferguson, Bill Maher, Jimmy Kimmel, Kathy Griffin, Joan Rivers, etc etc.

Her outrage is way out of context, bringing in the miliary....they are out there fighting for our freedom of speech---implying letterman is a rapist, and would go after her 14 year old daughter, when he has NO history of anything like this..

The only difference is that this joke was told after the election, and stood out, unlike the 100s of similar jokes about the Palin family last fall. And she had no problem the, and appeared on their shows, before and after...

She just saw a good opportunity for some self rightous publicity and the chance to trash a left leaning comedian. Until she grants equal criticism time to all who have joked about her children...STFU.

I used to watch Letterman and I like a good political joke no matter if it Dem or Rep, but Letterman has gone way over the top. His political savagery is now only directed at Republicans. He might give a couple "soft" jokes about Dems, but nothing like the Palin controversy. I think he would crack jokes about Palins handicapped baby if he thought he could get away with it.

The Clintons and Obamas have had their kids out in the public more than Palin yet we never hear any jokes about them, and there would be plenty.

Letterman needs to stick with comedy and forget about being a pawn for the Dem party.

yo-yo of CA -- Thank you for all of the other examples -- I only wish Palin would read your comment.

I hope SNL does a skit about the whole mess!

Oh I'm sorry -- did I miss something? Are the Obamas daughters unwed mothers who spout off about abstinence? Do the Obamas throw their daughters out there for their own gain?

Give me a break --

Blah, blah, blah -- Sarah Palin needs to get over it already. Her only goal --- EVER -- is to be in the spotlight. Doesn't matter how she gets there. Her fifteen minutes of fame should have been over long, long ago. But she milks every comment for as long as she possible can.

David Letterman apologized, let it be. If there are those who don't care for his humor, use your remote. His ratings are higher than ever because of all the publicity, I doubt a smart advertiser would pull it ads at this point.

Was it a bad joke? "you betcha" ;o) Should we move on? "you betcha" 'o)

Colorado loves Letterman --
