Is There Room for Moderates in the GOP?

This meme is really becoming tiresome. Of course there are still moderate Republicans left; didn't Christie just beat Lonegan in New Jersey? If all remaining Republicans were so extremist I do not see how that could have been.

Republicans, like Democrats, reflect their constituents. Otherwise they do not get elected. The letters and comments from Texas appear more hard-line conservative, possibly suggesting voters in that state are more conservative in general. Therefore they like and elect conservative representatives. That's fine. New Jersey Republicans probably tend to be more moderate. That's fine too. The party is struggling but it will find its feet again. In the meantime please stop rehashing the same questions.

The Republican party is the General Motors of politics. They listened to their own propaganda and tried to convince a gullible public that America made the best cars in the world. Anyone who said otherwise was a latte-sipping salad eating commie-lover. Global warming was for hippies and intellectuals and real men drove World Wrestling Federation style pumped up Trucks and SUV's. No taxes didn't work, no regulation didn't work, no evolution didn't work, no abortion didn't work and then it all crashed down in a pile of ideological wars and trashed economy.

The writing was on the wall, they had their chance. A pro-torture, extremism in defense of ideology platform won't sell to voters that love their country and don't want it destroyed by Fear, Hatred and Division. That's all Republicans have.

No... Limbaugh, Hannity, the Newt the Grinch have a total strangle hold on the party... and the 30% of the country that is beholden to those idiots is the only thing left of the Republican party. No more moderates to admire like Bob Dole or Jack Kemp.
