My perfectly healthy 19-year-old daughter began having problems within 24 hours of the vaccine [Gardasil Side Effects? Parents Seek Answers, usnews.com]. She had her first seizure two weeks later. She has not been diagnosed with epilepsy and nobody knows why she is having seizures. They increased after the second shot, and she had them daily for months. She also had multiple other problems including, hair loss, severe stomach aches, migraines, vision problems, bleeding gums, fatigue, body aches and pains, kidney infection, two UTIs [urinary tract infections], joint pain, tremors. None of which she had prior to Gardasil. She was hospitalized multiple times and all tests were normal. We did not get the third shot. We continue to deal with her symptoms, fortunately after a year of this her seizures have spread out and the last one was three months ago. We continue to test for problems as the symptoms still persist. I know Gardasil is to blame.

I can talk about my daughter's adverse reaction to Gardasil and not convince anyone. So consider this: how many women in your life have been or are currently suffering from HPV and/or cervical cancer? In my world the number is zero. With the level at which Gardasil is marketed, one is lead to believe HPV/cervical cancer is an epidemic in the United States.

When I read these posts (having had a child who had seizures after a DPT shot, and who will never have a DPT again, but this is a known risk), I have to question the parents who say "read the label" on the ingredients in a shot/vaccine, especially for teens. Have you read the ingredients on a deodorant/ antiperspirant? Tons of "aluminum." How savvy are you about the mercury levels in the "healthy" fish you feed your children? Do you use canned, frozen meals, or other heavily processed foods? How old is your house? Are there any other diagnoses illnesses or sensitivities in your family history? I am not saying that [people aren't] immune to side effects, potentially deadly, from vaccines, but I am saying that blaming this stuff on a vaccine, without understanding any potential damaging complications/additions/contradictions from what exists in your own home environment, or ethnicity, or family history, is silly.

Those of us whose vaccine-injured children became autistic can tell the Gardasil parents that as it stands now, if your child is injured by a vaccine, you have absolutely no recourse! Your pediatrician is covered, the vaccine companies are completely protected from litigation, and the supposed "vaccine court" is a place families languish year after year with a cap on awards at $250,000 for the death of a child, and even that award is extremely unlikely. The courts require evidence of causality, which is impossible to provide in these situations. In this situation, if you are not completely disgusted, you aren't paying attention. If anyone doubts that the business aspect is more important to these pharmaceutical companies than the health and well-being of our beloved children, be aware that there are 140 childhood vaccines waiting for approval.

I am a healthy 18 year old female who has had the guardisil shot administered to me and I personally have not experienced any adverse side effects. I have heard many stories similar to those in this article and I share my deepest sympathies to those who have experienced that. My family has a long line of women who have suffered from cervical cancer and after a lot of consideration between my parents and I we decided this vaccine might not be a bad choice considering the medical history of the women on both sides of my family. If your thinking of getting it would i would suggest doing your research and weighing out the pros and cons. I've also heard not to have the shot combined with any other shots or that could increase your chance of having a bad reaction. I actually did recieve the vaccine with 6 other shots at the same time and nothing happened to me, but thats not always the case. Just be careful, consider your options, do your research and make your decision. This is just my two cents. :)

is there anyone out there who didn't have any side effects from this HPV vaccine?

My sympathies to all who have experienced adverse events following vaccinations. Touted as "extremely rare", this is not the case. As parents assemble and share stories, the dangers can no longer be hid. If your child has suffered an adverse event, make sure a VAERS form is filed. According to the FDA (even as a conservative number), less than 10% of adverse events are filed per annum for vaccinations. THIS is why individuals can claim "extremely rare" side effects can occur. If VAERS was not a passive system, I believe we'd be seeing much more vaccinations pulled off the shelf.

I do agree that there are other dangers aside from vaccinations, however I believe that we must control what is in our power to control as parents, I cannot control the "air quality" but I can control what vaccinations my children receive, which are, and will always be "none".

Parents are left with no recourse from adverse events from vaccinations. Unfortunately, the only thing "immunized" in this grand scheme is manufacturers.

Going back to Gardasil, the doctor whom studied HPV for over 20 years, Dr. Harper, called releasing Gardasil in mass a huge public experimentation on young girls. HPV mainly clears on its own, and if not, can be caught with annual pap smears. The average age of a woman to contract cervical cancer is late 30's to early-mid 40's. With beginning vaccinations at age 12, it is unknown 1) How long the "protection" from the 4 strains of over 100 will last, 2) Long term safety effects and 3) Whether or not this will turn less invasive strains (the other 96+) more lethal.

Please parents, investigate, investigate, investigate.
