The Bush Administration: Gone But Not Forgotten?

It amazes me that we can spend months, and endless tax dollars on an investigation of a sex act, but don't want to give crimes of the government any time or money ["Why Sen. Patrick Leahy Wants a 'Truth Commission'," usnews.com].

It amazes me that we can spend months, and endless tax dollars on an investigation of a sex act, but don't want to give crimes of the government any time or money ["Why Sen. Patrick Leahy Wants a 'Truth Commission'," usnews.com]. Why have other branches of government if there is no oversight? How do we talk about "no torture" without prosecuting the commanders of torture? How do we lose billions in a war that we were lied to about, without an investigation? We would spend more time and money on someone that robbed a convenience store than on someone who lied, cheated, and lost the lives of our countrymen willingly? The people who ignore these injustices are just as bad as the people who commit the crimes and should not represent the people of this country!

President Bush took extraordinary steps to protect us. Nothing he did was about himself, increasing his power, Republican power or any other nefarious reason. Everything now is about increasing Democratic power and Obama's power. They want to control every aspect of society. I was never scared during the Bush presidency. I am scared to death now. Checking my E-mail and phone calls to foreign countries was never a concern. It will be interesting to see what Obama does with those terrorists being held in Cuba.

Republicans want you to believe that any investigation of torture of prisoners held at Guantánamo Bay, warrantless wiretapping, and the politicization of the hiring and firing of federal prosecutors is just Democrats playing politics. They also wanted us to believe that the impeachment attempt of Clinton for lying to a politically-motivated investigation (about consensual sex between two adults) was due to their deep commitment to the "Rule of Law."

Criminals should go to jail. The Bush administration was full of criminals, traitors, and cowards. It's time to investigate and get them behind bars, where they belong. That goes for many in the CIA also, starting with George Tenet. September 11 happened on the Bush, Cheney, Rice, and Tenet watch and was partly due to their laziness and incompetence. Instead of admitting and learning from their mistakes, they pointed the other way, gave themselves awards, and overreacted in many destructive ways. The world has suffered as a result. The wreckage is all around us. Open your eyes. Have a look at their mess.
