Speaking as an Army veteran: The aftermath of war is ugly because war is ugly. Our duty as human beings is to think twice before engaging in armed conflict.

The Good news is that this president wants to get out of Iraq and I do not see much hope for our presence in Afghanistan either, It is a very sad and almost hopeless situation,a really backward and and unhappy people ruled by tribal leaders who do not mind making huge profits from the drug trade which keeps people slaves to the addiction and living in poverty forever.....and this has been going on for hundreds and hundreds of years ...if not more....it is time for us to ....Wake Up.....
