Overwhelming Cost of Octuplets

Excuse me but the doctor who did the procedure to implant the embryos should have his license taken away.

What ethical doctor would do this procedure on this woman???

The children will be removed in due time and be put into foster homes. I just hope that this mother releases these children for adoption rather then drag this out for years and years.

Hey people why are you so worried about the Octuplets cost and not care about the bail outs for Wall Street banks insurance companies and dont forget the car industry. We could feed the whole world with the money we have thrown away so that they can keep on living it up.Parties leerjets hefty bonuses and some even remodel their offices for millions. Think about it AND DIRECT YOUR ANGER WERE IT NIGHT HELP.

I think we should help the children. I heard on the radio from a lady that said, Nadya should not get the money, but we need to think of the children. I believe the children should not be punished for her mom's stupid choice. Heck my parents made dumb choices, and I do as well. I think it's rediculus that a person on here said we need to have a christian attitude about this. Well I am a christian but God asks us to make wise choices, and when you already have six kids, and you're unemployed, and single there is no way you could take care of them. Man personally I think even 2 kids is enough for me, never mind 14. I have a decent job, a nice home, wonderful church family, people who will back my wife and I up in tough situations. I really doubt they would help if we had 6 kids and struggling, then move onto 14 kids. I would never want to even have one kid if I was unemployed, because even with my decent job I know money could be tight. I have tonnes of respect for Jon and Kate because they never ever asked for help. They deserve the help in my opinion because they stepped up to the plate, and never expected anything. They were truly blessed, they never expected a show or anything, and they work hard. I'd have more respect for Nadya if she adopted the kids or worked her butt off. I know a guy up here where I live who works 3 jobs to put his son through med school, now that's a real responsible parent, and he is single. So don't give me the attitude that we need to be more christian like to this lady. I don't agree with the death threats etc....and all the garbage but why when you have 6 kids already, and you're unemployed would you go for even one more kid? When the U.S. economy is in such bad shape, we have to pay for her stupid choice? How about the single mom's barely making it living in slumsland, not able to pay the bills, and Nadya gets a 2 million from Couric? There are so many more hardworking parents out there that need the money more. Anyways that's my view.

I realize that it is a slippery slope...but those kids shouldn't have to bear the weight of thier mothers ignorance. She obviously cannot take care of them (she wasn't taking care of her previous six) and we, as CA taxpayers, do not want to bail her out thereby telling others that it would be ok if they wanted to do it. CPS should already be on the case, and if they decide that the children should be taken, and given to families that can/will love them/take care of them, I would love the opportunity. I cannot, however, take all eight of them...don't know who could, but if we can keep them close then it should be a viable option.

Why should I, who waited to have children until I was 35 and could AFFORD them, why should I have to help HER pay for HERS!?

And why not said the obvious-- she's obviously emotionally disturbed to some degree.

Who paid for her In-vitro?

Who pays for NICU?

Who pays for her foodstamps?

Who pays for the disability she gets for some of her children?

If someone had said she gets no more welfare, I'd be willing to bet she would have stopped having litters.

Most people don't care if a woman has 14 children, only that she has no way to care for them and no plan, realistic plan, therfore the rest of the country can pay for her childhood dreams!

Why do "christians" pick and choose the rules to follow? She didn't see it as a sign not to have children when God didn't give her any in the method he provided so she went around God's will. Then has the audacity to say the octuplets are a sign from God not to have any more? How warped can a person's thinking be?

when mankind insisted upon improving nature.

If we had left becoming pregnant up to nature, this could not have happened. The reality is: Invitro is available. Not all of us, but a majority of us decided that would be a good thing. For many, it is.

But how do we decide who can and can't become parents this way? On what should we base the decisions - income, assets, marital status, sexual preference, lifestyle? age? psychological evaluations?

Who gets to be the judge? And how does one qualify? (perhaps it would have been better to have left the selection up to nature.)

I wonder why we celebrate "Brangelina," watch fascinated by reality TV shows and "annual update news reels" featuring similar families (who received a LOT of help) but stand poised and ready to condemn this woman? Money is in no way a predictor of who will be a good parent.

Once upon a time, the majority of us ageed that it was probably a good idea to improve on nature. For so many people, it has been a good thing. For other, it hasn't. It's like my grandmother told me: "Be careful about making decisions that can't be reversed. Think it through and make sure you're ready to accept ALL of the possible consequences."

Well, Jesus certainly wouldn't have approved of 14 children being born out of wedlock.

Matt of MO 10:48PM February 10, 2009

This woman Nadya Suleman has lived off the Government most of her adult life as she's been receiving disability for the past 10 years and also receives social security disability (for 3 of her 6 older children) and food stamps.

This woman is intentionally choosing to be a burden on society. Why should the public continue to fund her selfish and irresponsible decisions and life style?

If those 8 octuplets are placed into adoptive homes they'll very likely have a much better childhood than if they're raised by this selfish and unstable mother with the other 13 children.

First off, this birth was not natural and if GOD/Jesus had intended for it to happen, it would have happened NATURALLY. I don't condemn people for IVF, but seriously saying, "What would Jesus do?" is an ignorant response and a small scope of the entire equation. I'm a Christian and this is all together very unnatural and a drain on society. She should give up the children for adpotion instead of forcing them to suffer through poverty. I've lived in poverty, but my way out wasn't to mooch off the state and federal governments. I agree that her neglect to provide for her children is child abuse and should be dealt with in this manner. I also agree that there is "nothing mircaulous about compounding human suffering by over-breeding."
