It is pretty simple, urban people don't understand, dislike and distrust anyone that has actually lived in what most would say is rural or small town. Aren't all small town people dumb? Just look how these peole are written about and shown in TV and the movies. A lady, who has a very modern marriage, (could also be called an oldtime marriaqe too) raises a family without a nanny, can cook, shoots and cuts meat (and not just bait), worked a commercial fishing boat, served on a city council, elect mayor of the city, has managed a large oil consourcium, and elected govenor of our largest state. I think that must urban people fear someone that has and can do all of that. It forces them to look at what they have not done with their lives.

Except for the small fact that Caroline Schlossberger has never actually done anything of value to anyone but herself, she is qualified. Palin has served her community and her state. She led the fight to strip the "good ol' boy" politicians and big oil companies of their sweetheart relations in Alaska, while Caroline Schlossberger personally profited from backroom oil company deals. Caroline Schlossberger, and yes, that is her name, has never run for public office because she has zero(0) qualifications, other than a big pile of money, an education that has left totally incapable of running her own families business portfolio. Palin, on that other hand, is eminently qualified for elected office, because she has already filled 2 elected positions and served her constituents well in both.

Exactly. She can "volunteer for decades" because she's never had to actually "work" in her life.

How has she led a public life? Until now, she's been a recluse who hasn't done anything in public.

Huh? Judging by this comment, the only "undereducated" person is the one who uttered it.
BTW, Sarah Palin has actually won elections and served the public for years. The "self serving" one would seem to be Ms. Kennedy, who wants a Senate seat given to her rather than winning it in an election.

Only a "ring ding" would make such a comment.

Caroline Kennedy isn't a shoddy politician because she's never held office in her life. On the other hand, Sarah Palin has proven to be a very popular _leader_ with the people of Alaska.

Thank goodness. If the Senate were filled with professional volunteers, we'd be in even worse shape than we already are.

I am so sorry but a well educated person that has chosen to volunteer for decades even though they have a law degree, authored a well done book plus lived a life in the public eye with grace and dignity is no comparison to the undereducated self serving wannabe Sarah Paliin is and always will be.Comparing Sarah Palin to Caroline Kennedy is like comparing a ring ding to a chocolate souffle.
One is a leader the other is a shoddy politician.If all of our sitting Senators were measured by the volunteer service to their community and full breathe of education that Caroline Kennedy has more than a few would never make it past the cloakroom.
I find it ironic that a person who is willing to serve and be judged on that service to theri nation plus stand election twice in 4 years based on that performance should be scrutinised and prejudged like Caroline Kennedy is being now by you and others like you.If you want bumper sticker policies that are easy to remember and a good recipe for moose stew Sarah Palin is your girl but if you prefer ,as I do,well educated ,honest,dignified public servants who have already served without personal gain Caroline Kennedy is well suited and qualified for the job as a senator.
