On War and WMDs

I must respectfully disagree--America very much "gets it"--at least the 70% of American's who have opened their eyes to the catastrophic distortions fed to us by Bush & Co in order to propel this nation into the nightmare of the Iraq War. A few isolated individuals continue to claim that Saddam had WMDs and slipped them to Syria and this is supposed to convince us, in spite of the overwhelming information to the contrary, that Bush was right all along. May I remind you that the Administration itself has, albeit with great reluctance, admitted that the WMD threat was substantially "overstated" (an understatement if ever there was one)? The Duelfer report indicates no credible evidence suggesting significant quantities of WMDs were transferred out of Iraq pre-invasion. And the idea that Iraq would give its great enemy, Iran, any weapons is beyond absurd. Lastly, let me remind that just prior to our instigation of hostilities, there were teams of professional inspectors conducting no-warning examinations of purported WMD sites all over Iraq. Up until they were forced out by the US, they had found nothing significant. Had they been given the few "months" that Hans Blix required they would have been able to determine that no such weapons existed--and not a single human life would have been wasted. This Bush could not allow. With the primary underpinning for his rationale for war exposed as a fraud, how could the invasion have preceded? Thus, we attacked Iraq not to save the world from the threat of Saddam's WMDs, but to save the world from exposure to the truth.
