It would be worthwhile to write an article on renewable energy - wind and solar. The costs are staggering for a method of producing power which only works when the sun shines and the wind blows. It will bankrupt us all if we go this way. Paying for the solar and wind using tax and trade will provide the money but then how do we compete economically especially with China. How do the poor people among pay their electric bills?Who but the government and lawyers could think up anything like this. Give me a call if you believe I can help. John Birkle Utility Engineer

Yes it's time for the US to get off the oil kick. Our money goes right to our enemies. We should follow what France did, building Nuclear pwr, like "slices of baloney". No, lets try this, or this etc. The two countries with the most lax regulations, the US & Russia, had the most serious accidents. Also I notice nobody talks about decommisining of these plants at the end of their life. All things in them will be "hot" and past experience shows it costs more to decommision then build. In addition to nuclear all other solutions should be used. Englan has quietly become the #1 wind power countrry. We talk, the US and the rest of the world does. Power is too big to be in the hands/control of the Exxon's of the world. I enjoyed your April issue "The Future of Energy". I spent half, my 40 year, working life in power plant design work so have some knowledge of it.

In the special February issue (great stories) on aging well in the USNEWS how to Live to be 100. I don't know if I want to live to be 100, I do know I just want to have more and lots of what I am having now. Good health and feeling good. I am 70, my mother is 92 and lives with me. My daughter is 52 never married been with the same company for 25 years. We are all healthy and happy. We eat well and are not over weight and we all look younger. Lived most of our lives in southern California. We need to chage how we see older people. My saying is, I am not old. I just have lived longer. My number is maybe old to some people but, I am NOT old.People see me as younger. If you feel good keep busy, get going. And, it is okay to NOT act your age. Have fun, be silly. Exercise, good attitude, healthy diet, good friends, spitual, healthy weight. Gee, some people are old at 30. I just love people like Eleanore Miller who at 91 teaches a Monday fitness class at a gym. And at any age if you find the right partner, don't be afraid to get married/date. The right love is grand at any age. Thank you!

Do the doctors ever ask a person, "why are you sick?" How many people really need health care? I am 76 years old, snow shoe hike three times a week. I weight 129 when I joned the Navy for the Koren war and now weight 130 pounds. I could write several pages of my family, my health, my ups and downs, have never been in a hospital except for accidents. I have one disease I can't help, Glocoman that I got from my doctor. I live on socital security and live fine because of Medicare.

I think there is a lot of health care that is too expensive and for the most part, people don't need it. How many people need a heart trans plant? How much does it cost? How many people eat right and exercise? Why do illegale aliens get any care at all? Just decided to write this quick note, wish I could talk to someone about medical care.

I think that Ron Paul has the right idea: abolish the federal reserve bank, which is not a government institution, which has taken this country hostage, at least financially, and is run by a bunch of people whom couldn't care less about our freedom and liberties.

According to reports, the federal reserve chairman told the Dept. of the Treasury to print a bunch more money, and then it was loaned to the US Government, at some type of interest rate. I believe it was Wayne Paul who said that the collateral pledged was "we the people" of the United States. What that means is, that our government gave ownership of us and everything we own to a group of international bankers. I don't think they can legally pledge us, but they did. If they were to call the U.S.A. on the "loan" tomorrow, guess what that means? It means total takeover by foreign countries or entities.

One of a number of good sites is ontheissues.org, a site which shows the views of every politician on every issue. You can also go to www.whitehouse.gov, which shows speeches and bills, plus has an email response address, so we can give our opinion.

The last I heard, even many of the democrats are being made nervous by Obama. it seems he wants everything his way or not at all. It is pretty apparent what kind of leader he has become, as he has threatened the Congress and Senate with martial law in America if they voted no on one of the bailout packages. That is nothing more than sheer tyranny. If you look at the history of Germany, you will find that they just loved Adolph Hitler, at least at first. He was going to do this, do that, and in the end, he bankrupted the country. They ran out of raw materials with which to build more equipment for the war machine. They also ran so low on experienced pilots, that they were training 16 year olds to fly planes. And they even had operable jet planes at the end of World War 2. Incidentally, from Germany is where we got the plans for the Stealth bomber.

I have placed many links on one of the pages of my website, showing viewpoints of both sides of the coin, though mostly sites exposing frauds, at www.sleedogtraining.com/AMERICA_S_SECURITY_LINKS.php.

We cannot stop aging but we can make it healthy, tolerable and enjoyable!

My suggestions are;

Continue working out with lighter weights.

Walk 30 minutes outside or in the mall.

Take multivitamins and minerals since your body doent manufacture them anymore when you get older.

Golf, play tennis and dance and most important KEEP SMILING!!

Just finished reading "Coining American Heroes" and would like to offer the following comment. One does not WIN a medal for valor. A medal for valor is awarded. The person having been awarded this medal is refered to as a recipient of.............

I think President Obama has done an Outstanding Job

Handling the very important issues in front of him

at present!!!I also believe that his Wife is the best

1st. Lady that we have Ever had in Politics. He is COOL

as any person could be under adverse conditions. I

changed from Rep. to Dem. because of him and his wife

and children. I am Personally Sick and Tired of all the

adverse publicity surrounding him because People dont

like successful people and they want to put him down

because of their own problems. Leave him alone to do his Job. I have never seen a President that has

surounded himself with the best money could buy with

no Bias. He is the BEST!!!! The heck with the rest.

I am a Proud MARINE from Chicago and he is and always

will be my Hero. If you dont Like it. Too Bad.

My wife and I live in San Antonio, Texas. We are both

college graduates, and I have a small computer business

while my wife is a retired school teacher.

We both strongly support Obama. He is thoughtful, and

careful about his decision making. If only we had had

such a thinker during our Vietnam disaster. At that time I was a combat medic. We had a saying; "Kill for Peace". I would venture to say this has been our nation's motto in use the last 50 years.

Another thought: It takes only one psychaitrist to change a light bulb but the light bulb has to want to change. Or as my wife, the teacher says; "NO teaching

takes place if the student has NO desire to learn." This might help explain why we were able to bring WWII to a close in only four years but haven't won a battle since.

Perhaps Obama will prove clever enough to leave 'our'

oil alone and instead use this country's great wealth to

create abundant green energy and save this tired earth as well.

We humans, like all other evolved forms of life seem hell bent for leather on reproducing at impossible rates and then competing for the ever diminishing resources.

We MUST arrive at a higher level of morality and intelligence if we wish to survive and NOT destroy this

wonderful planet of ours. If WE don't solve this problem, then god will!

We are in total agreement with the Budke's of Florida in their JUne comments. We, as subscribers of more than 40 years, don't like your new magazine, and we're not about to sit in front of a monitor to read whatever news you wish to convey. The special issues don't do anything at all for us and are mostly material to put in our recycling bin. David Pinkard
