"Baby Nation" [usnews.com] says that the US immigrant-driven birth rate has increased "without any push from the government."

By refusing to enforce immigration laws for decades, the government has encouraged illegal immigration, which in turn increases the birth rate. After ticking off just a few of the downsides of unrestrained immigration—sprawl, environmental degradation, wage competition, overwhelmed education and health systems—you ask, "Are Americans willing to make the trade?" Americans have been saying that they are not willing to see the status quo continue, all of the presidential candidates are romancing voters with some version of the "secure-borders-lullaby."
