Voter Influence

It is indicative of the intelligence of the leaders of the conservative movement that one of them can state that the election of Hillary Clinton would result in "a president who will devote her energies to destroying the conservative movement" ["A Brewing Fight on the Right," October 22].

I think Clinton will have more important things to do than worry about Gary Bauer, James Dobson, and Tony Perkins. The most significant factor in Clinton's success in the 2008 election is that the extreme religious conservative movement has destroyed the Republican Party.

I am a Christian, which means i love Jesus. At the same time, I'm not a right-wing conservative attached at the hip to James Dobson. He does not speak for me, but somehow I'm categorized as being in his group. I am a registered independent, not a staunch supporter of Democratic or Republican politicians. Dobson, Bauer, and Robertson should leave my vote alone.
