With the Sandy Hook School Shooting, It's the Gun, Stupid
Tweet Share on Facebook December 19, 2012 CommentIt's the gun, stupid...or is it?
Most of our nation is still shaken by the recent massacre, the second worst in our country's history., in Newtown, Conn. It's not just that 27 people were gunned down in cold blood by a killer who then took his own life; it's that 20 of those people were children, babies really, most 5, 6, 7 years of age. On Friday, the world seemed to stop spinning on it's axis, and not just for the people of Newtown, Conn.

Snyder Unfairly Demonizes Michigan Unions With 'Right to Work' Laws
Tweet Share on Facebook December 12, 2012 CommentDespite the objections of thousands of people who packed the capitol in Lansing, Mich., yesterday, Michigan's Republican Gov. Rick Snyder signed two bills into law which sharply limit labor rights. Amidst those chanting, "Shame on you!" from the gallery, the governor moved his pen in support of this passage, which narrowly won by seven votes in the Republican-led state legislature. The uproar is about a ban on workplace rules that makes union membership a condition of employment for government workers. A second bill was also passed, by six votes, which also covers private-sector workers. The new rules will most likely take effect in late March in what was one of the country's most union friendly states. It now will be No. 24 on the list of "right to work" states in the United States.

Grover Norquist Is Wrong About the Tea Party's Second Coming
Tweet Share on Facebook December 5, 2012 CommentThis past Sunday, on NBC's Meet The Press, Grover Norquist had a warning for the president, Democrats, the nation, and perhaps the world: If America ends up going over the "fiscal cliff" there will be a Tea Party revival that will outweigh that of the 2010 midterm elections. "Tea Party two is going to dwarf Tea Party one if Obama pushes us off the cliff."

Sandra Fluke Belongs on Time's 'Person of the Year' List
Tweet Share on Facebook November 28, 2012 CommentIs it a fluke?
Time magazine has come out once again with it's annual "Person of the Year" nominees list. I'm always curious who is nominated and of course, like many, who winds up on the cover and is chosen as the "Person of the Year." The criteria to be chosen, according to Time, is: "the person or persons who most affected the news and our lives, for good or ill, and embodied what was important about the year."
And Sandra Fluke fits that criteria.

The Real Victims in Israel and Palestine Are the Children
Tweet Share on Facebook November 21, 2012 CommentAs most of us get ready to show our thanks by sitting down with friends and family and a great spread of food with a turkey at the center, the children in Gaza point their fingers at the sky, pretending they can defeat the K15 missiles and drones that they see flying above. This game that has been a part of daily life, and the culture in the Middle East is no game and is nothing to be thankful for.

Papa John's CEO Should Take a Pay Cut, Not Lay Off Workers
Tweet Share on Facebook November 16, 2012 CommentPapa John's CEO John Schnatter is going to cut his workers' hours, lay off workers, and increase the price of his pizzas by 11 to 14 cents. Why? Because the president was re-elected. More specifically, due to Obamacare. And he is not alone. Walmart is cutting hours, as is Denny's, and some other larger franchises like Red Lobster, Olive Garden, etc.
