Americans Finally Realize GOP Handling Debt Debate Poorly
Tweet Share on Facebook July 20, 2011 Comment (50)And the loser is... the GOP!
Or so says the latest CBS poll showing 71 percent of Americans don't like the GOP's handling of the debt crisis. And why would they? Americans have shown in polls, time and time again, that they want both sides, Democrat and Republican, to work together to get business done in Washington. To get the business of raising the debt ceiling done, that takes compromise; a word I fear Republicans don't like or perhaps aren't that familiar with. A great man once told me the best negotiations are when both parties leave the room winning and losing. The president has shown his ability to compromise; he put cuts to Medicare and Social Security on the table. Heck, he's even willing to talk about cuts rather than just raising the debt ceiling on his own!

What The Public Doesn't Understand About The Debt Ceiling
Tweet Share on Facebook July 13, 2011 Comment (27)When a CBS reporter asked President Obama why a recent poll shows that 69% of Americans don't want the debt ceiling lifted, he responded by stating that "professional politicians understand the debt crisis better than the general public." As I heard the words come from his lips, I knew there would be outrage on the right, and the left and certainly the right again!
The problem is, the president was right; ahem, correct.

The Outrageous Casey Anthony Verdict
Tweet Share on Facebook July 6, 2011 Comment (57)For as long as I can remember, I’d love to argue (as my mom would call it—debate is a term I prefer). I would fight 'til the death over any issue, no matter how large, no matter how small. When people would ask my mother why I was so argumentative, she would explain: "Leslie hates injustice." She was right. I did and still do.
That’s why the verdict in the Casey Anthony case was such a hard pill, or verdict, for me to swallow yesterday.

Bachmann's Gaffes and Lies Mean She's Unfit for White House
Tweet Share on Facebook June 29, 2011 Comment (38)Is there a dumbing down of America?
When Rep. Michele Bachmann stated that John Wayne was from Waterloo, Iowa, and it was actually John Wayne Gacy, many went ballistic. How could she not know that, being from Iowa?! How could she confuse an American icon with a serial killer? Many said it was a gaffe, an honest mistake, and I agree; I really didn’t have a problem with it.
What I do have a problem with are the numerous gaffes that Bachmann has made, some of which are outright lies. Here are a few examples:

Obama Should Withdraw From Afghanistan
Tweet Share on Facebook June 22, 2011 Comment (6)Tonight, the president will address the nation from the White House. The topic? The withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan. How many? Well, we won’t know until the president shares that with us this evening, but most speculate 10,000.

Republican Debate Should Have Been Called 'The Biggest Losers'
Tweet Share on Facebook June 15, 2011 Comment (18)And the winner is… nobody!
As Americans, we always like to talk about who won or who lost. I am reminded of a time when I was in a café in San Francisco and the World Cup was on. I was sitting next to a woman who was cheering for the Netherlands because she is from there; they were playing Trinidad/Tobago. The game tied up, the broadcast went to commercial, and she, as well as the rest of the café, emptied out. I asked her, “Aren’t you going to wait to see who won?”
She laughed and said, “God, you’re so American.”

Rep. Anthony Weiner Joins the Bipartisan Ranks of Stupid Men
Tweet Share on Facebook June 8, 2011 Comment (8)I believe it was Forrest Gump, the character in the movie of the same name who said: “Stupid is as stupid does.” And wow, was he right.
Let me introduce you to some “stupid” men--and I stress men:
Mark Foley, William Clinton, Larry Craig, Mark Sanford, Eliot Spitzer, David Vitter, John Ensign, Chris Lee, John Edwards, Arnold Schwarzenager, and of course, our newest winner of the “stupid” contest, Anthony Weiner. I made this intentionally bipartisan because the issue of men doing stupid things that involve their private parts is clearly bipartisan.

Palin Bus Tour Looks Suspiciously Like a 2012 Campaign
Tweet Share on Facebook June 1, 2011 Comment (20)Will she run or won’t she? That is the question.
If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, could it be a duck? If it looks like a campaign bus and a campaign tour, could it be that Sarah Palin is out campaigning to run for president?

Questions About the Arnold Schwarzenegger Scandal
Tweet Share on Facebook May 18, 2011 Comment (19)A politician from the party of family values does it again.
I live in Los Angeles, Calif. Being a California resident, I was forced to live through seven years with the former “Terminator” as my governor. It was a hard pill to swallow, but what Californians are trying to swallow now is that we were kept in the dark, as was The Arnold’s family about his having fathered a child out of wedlock. Would this have affected the way some people vote? Would this have affected the outcome? Would he have become governor at all? Those are questions we Californians are pondering.
