Hey atleast this administration haven't leaked a CIA agent and put lives at risk, remember Bush? Republicans love to forget the mess that man and his administration put us through for 8 years and now its Obama's fault? Really?

Leslie, You can be forgiven for being so positive about the results of Obama's policies, because you are a liberal and like all liberals, another liberal can do no wrong. The fact that Obama has blamed everything and everyone else for the disastrous outcome of his policies and his administration is merely an outgrowth of his rearing as a victim, butteressed by 20 years of mentoring from his pastor, the Reverentd Wright. But you find goodness in a landscape of disaster and those who can think objectively are not persuaded. Our unemploymnet number is bogus as it is calculated based on people actively looking for work and has dropped because people have given up by the hundreds of thousands. So also is our inflation number which is calculated without including the skyrocketing costs of food and energy. Obama has accellerated the costs of energy with his policies. He has done his best to move the country into istitutionalized Socialism. He has done his best to stoke the basest instincts in humans, envy (and greed for the wealth of the wealthy), with his class warfare rhetoric. He has brought his lack of management experience to the office of the presidency along with his left wing ideology and destroyed the country with unimaginable debt. And he has been completely supported in all this by the Democrats in Congress. Under Obama, Progressives have come out of the closet and provided for a full and open culture war vying for the hearts and minds of all Americans. This is one thing I am grateful to Obama for, and the only other thing I am grateful to him for is his election, unwarranted as it was based on history of accomplishment, is the fact that he was elected despite or because he is black. While his supporters deny it, it demonstrated that the attempt by blacks and liberals to label Americans as bigoted proved to be false. In fact the real bigots ended up being exposed as the people who refuse to admit that Conservatives are not racists.

I'm not saying that Obama is great but I do believe he was the less of two evils. All of you who continuously bash him: Have you forgotten that we are in this mess because of Bush Jr? I mean seriously, the recession started in mid 2008 because of Bush's horribly disastrous policies. Who ever heard of getting into two wars and cutting taxes at the same time. That's the equivalent of buying a second house and then quitting your job as stock broker to work at McDonald's. Have you also forgotten that before bush we had a budget surplus and after him we have huge deficit, and what about the fact that the debt double in his 8 years in office? The fact of the matter is that ALL politicians are corrupt and unless we take corporate campaign contributions and money all together out of politics then the rich will continue to get much richer and the rest of us will continue to suffer. If you are unsure which group you are in just take a look around. If you do not live in a million dollar house and drive million dollar cars than you are in the group that will continue to get screwed. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!! It's time we take the country back!!!

Never mind that capitalist economies have a natural tendency to self-correct; never mind that it's been YEARS since the recession began and Obama's policies only served to prolong it-just as FDR's prolonged the Depression; never mind that what little recovery there's been can be toppled with the slightest bit of bad news-like Iran's screwing with the oil supply. As for Matthew's claim that Obama 'stayed the course', step out of your alternate reality. Lacking a cogent plan or understanding on what spurs economic recovery, he grabbed at any straw blowing by to create policies that didn't pass a DEMOCRAT-controlled Senate. Be honest in your anemic efforts to defend the indefensible.

No one realized just how deep the failed policies of the Bush Debacle had truly dug. Bravo to President Obama for staying a steady course despite the obstruction of the corporate owned and controlled Republican Party. With increased measures like Obama's emphasis on "in-sourcing," we should see continued growth, much to the chagrin of right-wingers, who would prefer to see America fail. They made it clear in 2008 that was their goal, and they've done everything they can to make it happen.

Matthew of ID 6:56PM January 08, 2012

We hate Obama because he is an arrogant, failed president. Not because of his skin color. Grow up, Marshall.

It is not better from where I'm standing. Too bad -- you drank the Kool Aid.

DD of AR 3:14PM January 05, 2012

Aw, sweet. You "love" our president.

But let's play the 'what if' game that Obama and other Dems are fond of. You know, those things that you can not prove: "Without this or that costly adventure we put in place we would be worse off than we are now, in spite of our over-the-top promises of growth and prosperity."

"What if' the growth you say we are experiencing is just the recovery that normally occurs after a recession, albeit so much more slowly than it would have occurred had we not gone down the path of those costly adventures?

'What if' those costly adventures: for example, a stimulus that on one can convincingly prove worked, a auto bailout that screwed investors, a health care plan that drove up premiums for most rather than lowering them, had not been put in place. 'What if' the government under Obama and Dems had focused on employment and jobs creation instead of payoff spending for their special interests and constituencies, maybe things would REALLY be better by now.

Who knows. That scenario is just as possible, if not provable, as the one we've been following. Only we know the results of the one we've been following: 'getting better, just slowly, very slowly."

Maybe it's time to try some other scenario that may make it improve faster. I don't think it could be any worse. After all, even the President's own people don't think employment will be higher than 8.5% by election day.

Sad, very sad!

Lee of NV 4:21PM January 04, 2012

How many 'seasonal' jobs attribute to this "sharp" drop in the unemployment rate? and are you including those unemployed who have stopped looking for employment? They are, after all, still unemployed.
