With Speech, Obama Handled the Debt Ceiling Crisis Like a President
Tweet Share on Facebook July 27, 2011 Comment (14)The president reminded us of who's in charge
Monday night, after the president's speech, Chris Matthews, a guy who professes to be a liberal but about whom I must admit I have my doubts, stated the following: "The president should not have gone on national television to give a political address."

Americans Finally Realize GOP Handling Debt Debate Poorly
Tweet Share on Facebook July 20, 2011 Comment (50)And the loser is... the GOP!
Or so says the latest CBS poll showing 71 percent of Americans don't like the GOP's handling of the debt crisis. And why would they? Americans have shown in polls, time and time again, that they want both sides, Democrat and Republican, to work together to get business done in Washington. To get the business of raising the debt ceiling done, that takes compromise; a word I fear Republicans don't like or perhaps aren't that familiar with. A great man once told me the best negotiations are when both parties leave the room winning and losing. The president has shown his ability to compromise; he put cuts to Medicare and Social Security on the table. Heck, he's even willing to talk about cuts rather than just raising the debt ceiling on his own!

What The Public Doesn't Understand About The Debt Ceiling
Tweet Share on Facebook July 13, 2011 Comment (27)When a CBS reporter asked President Obama why a recent poll shows that 69% of Americans don't want the debt ceiling lifted, he responded by stating that "professional politicians understand the debt crisis better than the general public." As I heard the words come from his lips, I knew there would be outrage on the right, and the left and certainly the right again!
The problem is, the president was right; ahem, correct.

The Outrageous Casey Anthony Verdict
Tweet Share on Facebook July 6, 2011 Comment (57)For as long as I can remember, I’d love to argue (as my mom would call it—debate is a term I prefer). I would fight 'til the death over any issue, no matter how large, no matter how small. When people would ask my mother why I was so argumentative, she would explain: "Leslie hates injustice." She was right. I did and still do.
That’s why the verdict in the Casey Anthony case was such a hard pill, or verdict, for me to swallow yesterday.
