Barack Obama has fired more people than Mitt Romney or Bain ever did.

If your goal is to create a stagnant economy packed with zombie companies, make it as hard as possible to fire people. See: "The Ability To Fire People Creates More And Better Jobs" in Forbes at http://onforb.es/yNDxdq

As the US government is the most bloated institution in the world, Romney is the perfect guy for the job. I feel sorry for the approx 75k per year steel worker's loss, but not his economic situation, which was largely of his own making. Bain Capital didn't take down any well run companies with underpaid workers that I'm aware of.

"America has got to grow up, we have to be able to produce goods that people want and can afford. Paying someone $100K a year just because it is what the union demanded is crazy. If you want an example just do a little research on the longshoreman and their contracts. You will be sickened at what is going on in that world and I affects almost everything you purchase.." -- Because all our manufacturing has been outsourced overseas, by parasites like Mitt Romney.

Here comes all the sob stories about someone that had a terrible situation in their life and of course "they allowed this to happen to me", no you let this happen to yourself. I am sure if more of the facts about the company were known the story may have a different impact.

I have a story for you that I was personally involved in. A big company in the mid-west was having a hard time competing in the market place, mainly due to the fact the unions had completely taken over the company and they could no longer produce goods that were competitive priced, so they opened a number of non-union satellite plants. Oh course the unions had a fit and started talking to all the new non-union employees and they promised to take care of them, get them more pay and benefits, etc, etc. Well finally a few years go by and all the non-union employees, that were completely trained by the company at the company's expense, decided it was time to get theirs and they voted in the union. Well, within 6 months the company closed down the smaller plant and layoff 500 or so workers. These people had families, homes to pay for, cars to pay for and where were the libs and their sob stories then. Oh I know it was the wonderful union’s and not the evil business man so it was ok. I for one try and avoid anything made by union workers, overpriced and lower quality.

America has got to grow up, we have to be able to produce goods that people want and can afford. Paying someone $100K a year just because it is what the union demanded is crazy. If you want an example just do a little research on the longshoreman and their contracts. You will be sickened at what is going on in that world and I affects almost everything you purchase.. Market forces will drive businesses to the right decisions, but once you start toying around with the market it all comes apart. I am sick and tired of people crying about what “happened” to them. In this day and age you have to continually learn and redefine your skill set. If you think you are going to being doing the same job for the next 20 years you are sadly mistaken.

Mitt is not my choice but anything will be better than the thug that is in the White House.

The "fire people" story has stayed in the news cycle - his own Joe the Plumber moment. Ultimately it looks like it will hurt Romney not just because it can be used out-of-context by his rivals in both parties, but because it provides some insight into the real Mitt.

As a friend just commented, "most of the time Mitt looks like he is reading from a script - kinda robotic - but that comment seemed natural - like we saw a brief flicker of the real Mitt."

I think that sentiment may resonate subconsciously with a number of voters notwithstanding their party politics.

In terms of what he literally meant to say, is his healthcare policy "repeal and replace" as he often says, or it is just some form of "rename and claim"?
