Ken Buck Trumps Dan Maes as Craziest Candidate in Colorado

Politicians having any say in family planning, a woman's right to protect herself against an unwanted pregnancy, or a woman's right for a little extra help in conception is ludicris. I am extremely appalled that this election is coming down to this. Who is going to take care of all those unwanted babies from all those unwanted pregnancies?? Is Ken Buck going to adopted all those kids... doubt it. Is he going to drop a dime of his own personal money for any of them... doubt that even more. Its going to be us tax payers to will end up paying for those children's demise. We have BIGGER things to worry about, such as unemployment, and the homeless just to name a few. If Ken Buck gets elected then he is taking away exactly what this country was founded on, Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. Next, campaign it will be who is endorsing arranged marriages. I know my country is still the best, however I am NOT proud of those who lead us.

Oklahoma's republican legislature this last year was not only a three ring circus, , it accomplised nothing. Kids could have done just as well.

Okie of OK 4:51PM August 31, 2010

If you like farce , keep your eye on the Oklahoma republican legislature. It's the nuttiest on the country. Nothing but screwballs and fruitcakes.

Okie of OK 1:59PM August 31, 2010

You know things are bad when the Republican candidates are campaigning on eliminating the Department of Education, banning birth control, cutting taxes on the rich while raising taxes on the poor (flat tax), etc. and yet #1 the press still calls their policies "pro-growth" and #2 the Democrats are running on "cutting government spending" and "fiscal responsibility".

The Democrats don't have a clue. For the past 30 years they have been losing because all they try to do is be "almost as conservatives as the Republicans".

Of course we need to reduce "government spending"... on the bloated military!

They should be out there like FDR was 70 years ago, taking it to the billionaires who have brought the economy to its knees, taking on income inequality as the root cause of the economic collapse, talking about INVESTMENT in public education and how it actually leads to HIGHER economic output and thus LOWERS longterm deficit projections, etc., etc.

Yet what have they all done so far? So far the best they have done is attack Buck and Maes, but they offer no defense of a progressive agenda themselves. Betsy Marky is trying to sound like a Republican, GOOD LUCK! Betsy, the conservatives AREN'T going to vote for you no matter what, STOP TRYING TO GET THEIR VOTE! You've lost mine in the process!!!!

Like many progressives, I'm now prepared to sit on the side lines while the Republicans take over and destroy the country. Supporting the Democrats is hopeless, they are all just a bunch of spineless losers who can't even capitalize on the most favorable conditions.

America needs and FDR, but there is none to be found. I'll be voting Green Party this election, and watching as the MSM blames the Democrats for being "too liberal" and "out of touch" for holding positions that were considered mainstream Republican just 10 years ago....

Such garbage. Palosi is a liar...

Bush began warning year he went into office. Barney Frank said all was well. You forget about the finance committee:

"Pelosi Caught In Major Lie- Says Bush Didn’t Warn Congress About Financial Crisis… Records Show He Warned Congress 17 Times in 2008 Alone"

The entire right wing noise machine has been funded by a few big reactionary pay masters like the Kock Brothers and other well heeled conservatives who receive billions in corporate money and in donations from high net worth individuals. The propaganda seems to be working as the GOP deliberately obstructs Obama's agenda for which he was sent to Washington DC by 53% of the voters.

The GOP has obstructed a 2009 comprehensive immigration reform bill which contains NO amnesty provisions and funding for beefed up border security, the public option for health care reform which even Rasmussen polls admitted had majority support among the populace, a stimulus program which was widely supported and was run by states through the private sector (creating private not government jobs like the FOX liars try to tell viewers) and financial reform which EVERYONE wants.

he GOP has obstructed these four main popular reforms by scaring millions of uneducated people with a multi-million dollar propaganda blitz about "socialism," "death panels" and "government takeovers" none of which exist. It was Bush who started the bailouts but this is never acknowledged by the tea party members or the GOP. Hank Paulson and George W. Bush forced the Wall Street bailouts through congress desptie their unpopularity. In addition, they failed to brief congress about the depth of the financial crisis in time for them to act;

"Pelosi has alleged that the Bush administration knew well in advance of its intervention that the financial crisis would hit, and that Congress would need to authorize a historic and unpopular bailout - but that top officials, including then-Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, told her that they had been barred from briefing Congress about true extent of the crisis. If accurate, the allegation could constitute a major indictment of the Bush administration, which may have worsened the crisis and resulting economic fallout by delaying the call for congressional action. Pelosi says the admissions from Bush administration officials that they had kept Congress in the dark came in private conversations between her and those officials in person and by phone."

http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/05/pelosi-bush-administration-barred-officials-from-asking-congress-for-financial-sector-bailouts.php?ref=fpb

This was obviously done in order to prevent congressional action that would be opposed by the banks so that Paulson & Co. could ram through a bailout favoring Wall St. with no conditions attached to it. Bush's repeated "warnings" about Fannie and Freddie were meaningless because they didn't bring on the crisis which was caused by the private financial sector and because Bush himself encouraged loosening lending standards to promote home ownership.

If the extremist tea party candidates win it will be an unmitigated disaster. The government will shut down and the economy will go into a much deeper recession just as recovery is slowly beginning.

That's nothing. You should come to Oklahoma and watch the republican state legislature. They compete with each other to see who can introduce the nuttiest legislation. Oklahoma would be better off without a legislature.

Okie of OK 12:54AM August 28, 2010

Ms. Chapin, I guess doesn't realize, that Ken Buck has an 8 point advantage in the polls here in Colorado over Obama, yes man, Senator Bennet. I guess she feels lefty "journalism" might make the dem stat's better. Dan Maes has a 50/50 chance of winning the Gov. seat here in Colo.if Tom Tancredo gets a conscience and leaves the Gov race. So that leaves us with conclusion that well over 50% of Coloradoans are very mainstream and excited about the demise of the Democratic Party stronghold in Colorado

Troy of CO 10:15PM August 27, 2010

Maybe Chris of AL and Matt of CO should listen to Buck's own words about WOMEN's rights to abortion/contraceptive care. Why the hell would it matter to men unless they've knocked their chick up? Why is it the neanderthal men, who don't carry babies, who want to impose their narrow-minded views on reproductive rights - do they have ovarian envy?

Check out this story, re the teahaddists and abortion: http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2010-08-25/tea-party-embraces-pro-life-christian-conservative-ideals/

I thought the teabaggers were all about fiscal conservatism and stopping the rampant march of government into our lives. I guess they're right unless it includes abortion and religion/property rights. The teabaggers have been now proven a sham and should form their own crazy religious party and stay the hell out of mainstream politics.

Kellie of CO 4:13PM August 27, 2010

This article is nothing but yellow journalism. It is amazing that Ms. Chapin is so concerned about abortion, as though it was one of the most important issues of the election cycle. As for Social Security, Ken Buck is absolutely right. As a young college student worker, the government takes money from my paycheck knowing full well that when I retire, there will be no social security for people my age. Social security and medicare combined are 50 trillion dollars in debt, although Ms. Chapin doesn't seem to care about that. Social security is nothing more than a Bernie Madoff ponzi scheme. Rather than investing the money that is taken out of our government paycheck, Bush/Obama spend it on the wars overseas, bailing out banks, etc. Ms. Chapin, why don't you do some real journalism and stop being condescending to the only candidates who tell the truth?
