Texas Gov. Rick Perry Won the Battle but Could Lose the War

The main thing Rick Perry has done to anger me is his executive order requiring pre-teen girls to be vaccinated with the Merck drug Gardasil. This is big government at its worst. It parent's job to decide which vaccinations to give our daughters. To make matter even worse, Perry has employed a Merck lobbyist in his office. Lobbyists work for corporations seeking to do business with Texas, then they work in Perry's office and then go back to former employers or clients. Another example is Perry's employment of the lobbyist for Cintra of Spain. Perry had him writing transportation legislation. It is common knowledge in Texas that Perry's toll road scheme is nothing more than a segment of the North American Union Superhighway. I am a staunch conservative, but Rick Perry is not my kind of conservative and in my opinion is harming the Republican Pary.

I THINK OUR SENATOR DID WHAT SHE ENDED UP DOING BECAUSE SO MANY OF US BEGGED HER NOT TO LEAVE WASHINGTON SINCE WE REALLY NEED HER THERE. IT IS TRUE THAT SHE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO DO A GREAT DEAL SINCE OUR PRESIDENT IS SET ON DESTROYING US ... BUT ...

WHATEVER SHE CAN DO, SHE WILL.

I can remember Democrats in Austin ... if you can't, you can't

know what it would be like. I hope you don't find out what it's

like.

Rick Perry won an easy victory in the primary because Senator Hutchison could not decide whether she wanted to be a Senator or gov. She promised to resign her seat in the Senate and then did not. Folks in Texas don't like being lied to.

White has a chance to win, but it is a small chance. He is not well known outside of Houston and fomerly worked for the DOE in Washington. All 27 statewide elected positions in Texas are held by Republicans. The Republican base in Texas is motivated due to Obamacare. The Democratic base is not. It is likely the Republican turnout will be better than the Democtatic one and that will give Perry another term.

Bill White is also fuent in Spanish, and will be able to communicate to that voting group directly and forcefully.

Bill White is also a fiscal conservative, and has close relationships with Texas' business community. White also took on the utility companies, who, like the health insurance companies, sought to increase utility rates with no check in place by Perry's statehouse.

Perry, with the help of lobbyists from the vaccine corporations, attempted to jam a law down that would force all girls and women in Texas to get the HPV vacines. These vacines were not approved via the legitimate agencies.

I don't see how Perry will win Texas, having lived there myself. The growth in energy sector jobs in Houston is due in great part to Mayor White's reach to these oil companies, and not Perry's doing.

Most advantageous for White is that Bill White is an outsider in every sense of the word.
