You are dead on. For many years L.L. Bean was the real deal, selling quality mdse that did the job it was supposed to do. Their products were the top of the line, and they did not stoop to appeal to the fashion world. You could depend on everything they carried. Now, they are just another 'me too' catering to the fashion snots.

The catalog you received is just one of the new lines--Signature Line-- designed for a younger and more fashionable customer. I assure you that every traditional item that L.L.Bean is known for is still available. L.L.Bean hasn't changed....we've progressed into the future.

Could not see the shirt that you like so well for the Chase advertisment. So sad.

I bet you said the same thing when Ford first showcased his horseless carriage.

Lots of the L. L. Bean gear comes in Tall sizes. There are lots of us tall folks in Texas. I buy a lot of things from them (and Lands End also).

I go for the Ivy League Preppie look. I'm more of a Land's End guy.

How old are you? They have to change. We are dying out. My father's middle name was aloysius - great name.

What's wrong with LL Bean taking their business to 20 and 30 somethings? If they were removing the items that have defined them for the past 100 years, I would understand the angst, but this article sounds like the people that hate it when their favorite band gets discovered by "other" people. If they can bring their legendary quality, value, comfort and customer service to younger people, more power to them. It will only help them continue to keep our favorites in the product line. If you fear that the Signature line will somehow takeover the company (not likely) KEEP BUYING THE OLD STUFF. We're all voting with our dollars.
